It sounds to me like Jesse is a good coach with progressive ideas but Leeds was a case of the right place at the wrong time. It doesn’t sound like his coaching style is suited to relegation battles like Carra alluded to and Leeds would have been better off getting a ‘relegation specialist” in earlier. I think if he got a job up the table he would fly, I could see him being a massive success at Brighton or Brentford for instance.

The issue with JMs style was that it was a luxury that Leeds could not afford. We did not have the quality of striker to put away the chances which killed us in tight games, and we did not have the quality of Central Defenders and Midfielders that could play out from the back in the crowded tight net that he keeps talking about - opposition midfielders and attackers were better at pressing than we were at beating that press - especially when we lost the only midfielder who could pass and break up play in Tyler Adams, such a huge miss. The amount of goals that came from player error was insane and ultimately the inability of JM to adapt to the strength of the Premier League teams, and also to the clear weaknesses in the squad lead to his downfall. I think he knows HIS stuff very well but I don't think he quite got to grips with how intense the Premier League is both on the field and tactically off of it. I would have pressed him on how tactically he could have overcome the challenges Leeds had, and how the Red Bull way of playing would have needed to be amended. His only answer seamed to be more Red Bull more of the time. Plan A, plan A and then plan A again.

Jesse's passionate about the game and you can tell how much he loves coaching. Think he was unlucky at Leeds in so far as some terrible luck with injuries, defenders that couldn't defend and a striker in Bamford that couldn't hit a barn door. If it wasn't for the injuries, I think he'd have kept them midtable.

Bamford was awful last year(doing better in the champ this year). I remember that penalty he took against Arsenal put it wide of the frame. Absolutely awful. I think Marsh should have done more to adapt to the reality of how poor Bamford was, but there were some terrible(Llorente, Firpo, Bamford, Ayling, Cooper) performers last year that did not belong anywhere near the Prem that would have made it hard for any manager to keep them up. I get it though 2 wins in 17 league will get you fired/sacked. I hope he picks something up in 2nd division in Germany or some team down in the lower part of the Championship and see what happens. Good comment!

When asked if Marsch's and Red Bull's system is better suited to other leagues,he said 'no'. When the answer is 'yes'. Marsch had that Leeds team playing some good football at times, and his philosophy clearly shows why. As carra mentioned at the end, he sort of jumped from a team at the top of the league to one near the bottom, which was a crucial mistake. You can see his systems working out clearly at a better club in the prem, but Leeds just weren’t good enough in front of goal that season to keep him up, that’s the sad truth about his time there.

Marsch was always up against it and at no point was his situation a comfortable one at Leeds. If he’s looking for his next job, Sunderland should give him a call. It all sounds good but you need top players to be successful when you are in a relegation battle you need to be more pragmatic. We got caught out too many times because of the quality of our team. I’m all Leeds Utd and wanted him to succeed, but the quality we had was not premiership. Bielsa wanted to improve the quality after his first season but Leeds did not back him. So he predicted he could not do 10th again. Also the quality brought in under Jesse was not up to par. We made silly mistakes in defence this was our downfall. Raphinha kept us up the second year. Then we lost him. To succeed in the premiership what ever system you play it’s quality and fitness that matters. ALAW MOT

What are the people who pay for Sky Sports getting for their money these days!? No where near all the PL TV matches, adverts throughout their broadcast and the flagship PL show they funded is given away for free on KZfaq 😅

I'm a Leeds fan and actually didn't mind Marsch too much, even towards the end. His repeated appearances like this have however caused me to change my mind. I've now reached the conclusion that he is a complete theorist, and his ideas don't translate into practice, at least not in the Premier League. He seems to be on a crusade to promote himself as some sort of tactical genius. Instead, all he has done is shown himself to be incapable of accepting blame and to be quite delusional. You could see on the Simon Jordan thing that he made so many excuses, for instance claiming that we were actually higher in the league because of games in hand, XG or some other tripe. He refused to accept that we were 17th (or whatever it was) when the table showed that we were, and consequently refused to take any responsibility for it. The "masterclass" in particular just highlighted how complicated his tactics were. he explained about 50 scenarios whereby if Liverpool to this, we'll do that, but if they then do this, we'll do that. His players must have been completely confused. It did seem like the players liked his enthusiasm and belief, but he really was much more like Ted Lasso that he was Arsene Wenger. Maybe his tactics would have worked with a much stronger squad or a weaker league, although I doubt it. I would love him to get another job in the PL to see how he does. I'd bet the farm that he fails again, unless he goes to a big club in a small league like he did in Austria

If Marsch is going to talk to us on football, having failed at Leeds, first thing is to stop speaking American. “Eighteen” (Yard line)“ Goal” (Keeper) and “Interviewed with” ( I am looking for a job) can be dumped for starters. Sounds like Brad Bobbly, not Pep.

Jessie should continue as a pundit as he talks a good game, but that's where it ends.

Leeds fan here. Will be interesting to see him at his next job, as for all the passion and so called tactical awareness..his football was shite!! Not good to watch. Seemed he underestimated the quality of the prem, with signings and tactics
