It's not condoning black face in any way shape or form, it's trying to point out Hollywood's hypocrisy when it comes to race as well as open a dialogue for where exactly the line is for what's considered "offensive". RDJ's character was just one part of an overarching theme throughout the whole movie. The Simple Jack "never go full retard" ties directly into this too. At what point does an actor appropriating someone else's life stop being art and start being offensive? What is off limits and "too far" and what makes them that way? The movie did an incredible job tackling these questions and most people I've met who have seen it understand that it's deeper than just "haha we made Tony Stark black lmao".
