Yes! Jamie Oliver gets it! Spice up your Caipirinha with fruit! I am telling this t everyone and noone outside Brazil knows about these variations. Orange, kiwi, strawberry, blueberry its all good. Just did one with fresh cherries, just mashed them in the glass, stones in an all. Even better with a dash of cherry liqeur. Heering is great. Moscovado sugar and ordinary sugar cane granulate is what I got here where I live. Its so much better than the white tasteless stuff we normally use. And its not expensive.

Awesome! Never tried the Dragon Fruit variation, but I live in Brazil and have made it my personal life goal to drink a caipirinha with every possible fruit known to man. I'm pretty sure there must be some poisonous ones out there, so I'm keeping those right at the end of my list for when I have nothing else left to live for. But they'll still be just before pineapple. For some reason I despise pineapple, so that's going to be the absolute last one, right on my death bed. Just giving you guys a heads up so you can contact the Guinness Book of World Records for when that happens.

it's rush to make a classic caipirinha with you aren't in Brazil cause of the sugar. He could use the most traditional Brazilian cachaça , 51 that all brazilian knows.. but is not everyone that knows cachaça 51 has a pretty good quality! I just learnt that in a bartender course. But people are always paying just for a brand, maybe Leblon is doing some marketing there ^ ^
@pedroaugustoroque79357 жыл бұрын
* Drey * it's usualy impossible find good cachaças out of brazil. Here we love cachaças like : salinas, seleta, boazinha, nega fulo, weber haus, rainha paraibana. Now leblon is a piece of shit, just like leblon and 51.
@MBezerra1007 жыл бұрын
51 is actually mass produced cachaça, and it´s not that good. There are literaly hundreds of smaller distileries all across Brazil making incredible cachaça, but as Pedro said, most of it doesn´t sell abroad.
@turntablesrockmyworld93152 жыл бұрын
51 is bottom of the barrel. Leblon is pretty good for its price point. I can only get Pitu here which is not very good on its own but okay in Caipirinhas.

Ingredients.. Like fruits Jamie used can easily be found on tropical countries, say here in Philippines depending on season. Yes, but when you change the spirit, it's not a Caipirinha anymore. When you muddle lime and add rum, I think it's a nice view to try a Daiquiri. Anyway, with rum it's called "Caipiríssima" - with vodka it's "Caipiroska, by the way.

Spot on!
@claragrica8 жыл бұрын
In Rio the option with vodka is most of the time the first alternative used.
@nilson6668 жыл бұрын
claragrica Really? I thought cariocas used more cachaça than vodka to make a regular Caipirinha. In the south it's anoying, people everytime use vodka and still call it Caipirinha. I saw in Rio that people doesn't have a prejudice against cachaça like southern brazilians, who thinks that cachaça is something cheap, bad and worst than whisky, vodka, rum and everything else. Dumbness...
@Fishcustard427 жыл бұрын
The vodka version is called caipiroska(/vodka), but is there a name for a gin version of the drink? I started making my "gimlets" this way even before I knew about this fine Brazilian drink but is there a name for it? Maybe I should start calling it the "Brazilian Gimlet" now, haha!
@Gabrielnobre6 жыл бұрын
Man...youre a sincere seeker of the truth! lol We dont have a name for caipirinha with Gin because we usually dont drink Gin...its not so popular around here...but some people sure drink it...but if we'd name it, it'd be "CaipiGin" (Caipi+Gin) ;D

15 degrees in winter time? Dang, over here it gets down to -35 at winter, you should consider yourself lucky =D
@gab.lab.martins8 жыл бұрын
Morkradd Depends on the state. Brazil is huge, and contrary to the US and Russia for example, it spans north/south, not east/west. That means that in some states (like Amazonas) it's even hotter than summer, because it doesn't rain as much, but in others (like Rio Grande do Sul), it can snow sometimes. Hell, I live in the capital of my state, and winter days here can get pretty warm while nights are chilly, but when I go to a rural area 2h away, I need to pack extra clothes just to be somewhat comfortable. Asphalt and cement absorb heat, so city centres are much warmer than the countryside.

fermented sugar cane...so it's basically RUM
@nilson6668 жыл бұрын
They are like cousins, but taste very different. Rum is made fermenting the molasses, cachaça is about ferment the juice of sugar cane. This results in a very particular flavour to cachaça. Rum, comparing to cachaça, is something neutral. In theory it's very similar, but in taste are two different worlds.
