Gray Hair Color Correction | How to blend natural gray roots into silver hair including formulas

How to transition your client from gray roots to silver with this step by step technique (including all the color formulas I used) ✨
I know gray color corrections can be a huge undertaking and sometimes be super overwhelming...😳
But in this video, I am taking you with me on a customized color correction where I transition Kelli back to her natural gray pattern while also keeping her color modern and fun!
I know gray transformations can be challenging, but I walk you through my step by step process and the reality of large color corrections like this one!
I am still blown away by this before and after! 🤯
Formulas I used:
Lightener:
Wella Blondor 20vol on roots to mids and 15vol on ends with Olaplex
Lowlight in between foils:
Kenra Demi 6NUA
Toners:
Root Shadow to mids: Shades EQ 7V, 9B, 6ABN equal parts
Ends: 1 oz 9V and 9B equal parts and 1oz Crystal Clear
Final Overlay Toner: Kenra Demi 8SM
⚠️ NOTE: I meant to mention this in the video at the end, but I must've forgotten, oops! This color correction took me about 10hrs to do and if I was still taking clients, I would charge about $150-200 an hour with the addition of product. @N I'm a cosmetologist and this should grow out very nicely, the only maintenance you'd need would be a toner every so often but also using purple shampoo at home would help with the toning as well

I loved this. I've told many hairstylists I want to blen my hair hair like this and they just don't understand. It's so frustrating to the point I want to try this by myself.

This is intricate work. As a professional, I would not recommend you do this on yourself, but you may have to look around for colorists who do more of these and can tackle it for you. Gray blending is usually a color correction-level service that costs a pretty penny, and TIME, too. The gray should, ideally, be grown out a couple of inches, at least, too.

Because most people don't want to spend more than $300 and this is is over 1K for a stylist to make it worth their time. Plus toners fade quickly. That said, she did a great job.

I sat through an entire day having this process done going from a dyed blonde with greys coming in fast and furious from Covid lock-down. I decided to transition right then and there. I had waist length curly hair. We cut about 8" off first to just under my shoulder blades. My front is naturally white, then it transitions naturally to a light silver in the middle...then everywhere else came in a darkish grey/black. I LOVED IT! I have had to return twice to get the blonde ends toned and another cut. Wanting to keep my long hair I still have about 2 inches of faded out blonde on the ends...But going every 6 months instead of every 6 weeks for root touch ups is awesome. If you're ready to go grey FULL TIME...this is the way to get it started!

Gorgeous. Wow. Love it. Kenra's SM's have saved my butt with these, before. I always let the client know, there will be a few "blonde" and warmer pieces that just won't shift to that icy silver, but I will do my best to blend it. That line's metallics just do the job. I haven't used the 6 NUA, I usually use Mydentity with the ash and add dark shadows to the formulation. I can't believe how well that "brassy" brown-toned out. How often would you recommend she come in for a toner refresh? (I think a lot of clients think they'll "never have to color their hair again, rather than the reality of needing regular toners until ALL of that gray grows out, and is cut off).

I work at ulta salon and (youre gonna hate this) but instead of charging her for a color correction (80$/hr) im only charging her 230$ (partial highlight, all over color, olaplex) but im charging ao little because its my first time and im not highlighting the whole head and mostly focussing on the front
