Nice job, I feel right at home. In1960 my dad took our 1890ish family home and tore it to the bare walls. He poured a concrete slab and lowered it down to the new floor. Next he took the Victorian pitched roof and turned it into a ranch home beauty. He did all the work himself and it took him 10 years to finish. Glory was it a beaut! It was demolished in 2018 and 2 houses built...gentrification at its finest. Congrats y'all and blessings to you.

I believe I like the flooring better than anything else, because it looks appropriate for the house! More work, Jami and Zeb say “bring it on” so glad that disaster was behind brick wall! The combo works because Zeb understands the concept that new, doesn’t mean better or best! With both of you having artistic and design vibes, we will all cheer you on! Blessed and safe days

If that is the biggest crisis you have during this build, you have it made! So close to being done and I'm so excited for you!!! I know you get negative feedback on how white the original part of the house is, but I love it! White kitchens, wood painted white, white washed bricks have always been my favorite, even when I was a kid. So please know I really mean it when I say how much I LOVE how that part of the house came together. 💖💖💖

Jami and Jeb, I think you are a great team in all respects. Jami I relate to your honest reaction to things (gray mortar=poop) and Jeb your gentle responses and endless good humor (shhhhh) shows me that as a couple you “work”. You are both supportive of the other, hard workers, highly skilled, creative thinkers, and you share a vision not just with your house, but your relationship and family as well. You just keep doing everything that needs to be done. What a good example are: As you build and continually observe, shore up your structure and do the right thing, you create a thing of beauty, whether family, couple, or home. It is a joy to watch you build each thing of beauty.

Such an amazing job on the flooring Jamie, I'm sure Zeb is so proud of you & grateful he has such a willing & capable helpmate as you. Zeb you're doing a wonderful job on building & putting together the home. I just know that alot of women cant even hang a picture, or curtain rod theirself.(I'm NOT one of those, haha) So I just wanted to praise Jamie for just jumping in and helping where its needed. She certainly is a rare woman.

Ironically I don’t hardly ever hang anything on the wall. But that’s mostly because I make everything crooked 😂😂

I have a suggestion you might want to consider. When you are framing out around the bricks, even with the nail gun, there will be a lot of repeated vibrations shaking the old bricks. I would put a sheet of plywood up against the face of the bricks and wedge it in good and tight. A moving blanket or some such padding is something to consider putting between the bricks and the plywood. That would keep them from shaking and falling and absorb some of the vibrations. Absorbing the vibrations might keep them from crumbling apart too. If the bricks are supported on all the exposed faces, you stand a better chance on them surviving while you work around them. You were wishing for a pastry bag. Well, there are oversized specialty masonry bags that do just what you were wishing for. Who knew that all of the old tricks used in my childhood 1850 home repairs could be useful!

Loving it! Jamie is a beast with that floor installation. Go girl!!! Here's a DIY tip: when you don't have a masonary "piping" bag....you can double up gallon sized, zip lock bags (one inside the other) and fill with concrete or grout or whatever style job you're doing and snip off the corner of the bag(s) and you're good to go. Also works when you don't have an icing bag-and you need to pipe icing on cupcakes. Love y'all. Love watching you build your home. Oh, to be in my early 40's again-I would come help, off camera! LoL

There is a z shaped flat crowbar that helps pull the boards closed along the walls. Ask at Home Depot (or wherever) for one, it is a tool that the pros use.
