Yes, RU's involvement in WWII began in 1939 with the illegal invasion of Poland and continued with the Katyn massacre. The omission of the first two years is an attempt to airbrush away the facts.

In the U.K. back in the 60/70s we were always taught that WW2 started with the German invasion of Poland. The Russian invasion was hardly, if ever, mentioned. Strange.

@@bbdj2779 Realistically i think the bridge is just too big a structure to properly damage with Storm Shadow or drones (newest ones with bigger warhead maybe, but would need a swarm i think), ATACAMS could be another story tho as it can carry a bigger warhead, maybe combined with a swarm of the largest marine drones. We will no doubt find out!

@@paidwitness797 It’s certainly a healthy ambiguity to have. Russia will have no choice but to allocate considerable resources into it’s defence. That bridge is going to play a huge role in Ukraine’s strategy. There may be reasons to keep it open for now.

Think Ukraine are focusing on more high value targets at the moments. The Kerch bridge is not so important now due to Ukraine being on the defensive, while on the offensive it would have a much larger impact. Plus a bridge is cheaper to repair compared to refineries and other critical military infrastructure.

For it to be worthwhile having it operating in the first place any small depot is going to play a part in fuel distribution, say holding a large rail-delivery that's several weeks or months of local consumption (moved onwards to the customers by road). Knock out any of the storage tanks that aren't genuinely spare and you're causing problems. More frequent, less efficient rail traffic. Issues with handling the different types... petrol, diesel, kerosene, heating oil. Intermittent shortages for 'non-essential' civilian use, with resultant panic-buying, price-gouging and hoarding. All extra grit and friction in the system.

the fact russia will be using fuel as payments to china and nk for weapons and tech along with trying to have enough for the military offensives while also trying to prevent a shortage in domestic supply so as to not give the impression they arent doing so well there will be some russian commanders and generals inspecting the gulags before long

Hitting the small depots near rail lines is pretty damned smart because the fuel from the refinery has nowhere to be staged for rail distribution. Can't just send the train over to the refinery. If those drones could find one of those depots while a train is getting loaded...oooh, whoopie day!

Looking at the live feed, it wasn't much "less of a damp squib" at all, it was mostly a repeat of 2023. A single T-34 tank, zero modern main battle tanks, lots of trucks and APCs and things of that sort. The usual ballistic missile trailers. A flyover was the only major upgrade, and even it was very small by historical standards. And that standing figure - I don't see him at all in the live feed. Odd!
