Way back in the early 80s, I served a three month term on the grand jury in my south central county in Ohio. Our job was to listen to the evidence and decide if there was probable cause to indict the defendant(s). My take away from this experience was that most defendants were both guilty of the crime and also criminally stupid. They told some of the outrageous lies (which were easy to disprove), gave convoluted explanations that conflicted what they had already said, and they had the most grandiose confidence in their ability to pull the wool over our eyes. This mirrors my experience, just in a far larger scale.

I served on a regular jury once. It wasn’t glamorous at all, really. The attorneys seemed almost bored with the case. We found the defendant not guilty because the prosecution simply didn’t have a critical piece of evidence. If anything, I learned how low stakes a lot of criminal trials are.

But the MAGA crowd has twisted all that to a "witch hunt" and "politicizing justice" and it's a successful formula. They can raise lots of $$ for lawyers and litigation and appeals so justice is delayed further, or hope for a pardon. Corruption in politics is nothing new but the new MAGA crowd has made it into a money-making political monster that threatens the foundations of our country.

We have heard several times that the Jan 6 committee was "thinking about" subpoenaing various people who refuse to be interviewed voluntarily. Personally, I don't know why they would bother since the DOJ has already come out and said "it's okay, you can defy Congressional subpoenas; we don't care."".

Seth has so much fun with these but he's also so incredibly skilled. When he started breaking down into laughter with that leaning tower of pisa bit, he burst back into control so sharply it was stunning. You could almost see him thinking, "I've laughed too long, gotta get back to it" and he just does.

I think he laughed, because he just saw the picture for the first time (he doesn't see the graphics before the show), and was hit by the absurdity of a supposedly backpacking tourist having evening wear for a photo op at the tower of Pisa. That's why he went off script and made the joke about it afterwards.

Stone allegedly has a full-sized Nixon tattoo on either his chest or his back. According to one Watergate investigator, Stone hired the burglars from Florida in a scheme to kill Daniel Ellsworth, but they screwed it up, so they did their little break-in as a backup plan.
