Marcia never could mind her own beeswax.

Poor Jan... always angry at beautiful, charismatic Marcia.💖 It's called having a "complex" which Eve Plumb has too, in real life.

Well Jan sure as fuck got her beat in the gorgeous hair dept.

An expletive was not necessary in the sentence to convey the point...

Marcia was/is so gorgeous and charismatic and sweet. That's Jan's real problem.

Jan is my favourite character I can relate to her

One of the absolute worst things a teacher or parent can do is to motivate a child to do better by comparing him or her with a high achieving sibling. I wonder if anybody actually had any idea of how this would ultimately demoralize a kid, or if this never even entered their mind. Sone old school methods weren't questioned, just passed on through the generations

I know VERY well.

I agree with you there. My mom compared me to one of my younger cousins when I started middle school and high school. They were hard for me and she didn't listen. My cousin Mike graduated from high school but was placed in an alternative learning center. Nobody ever did that for me. I graduated from high school in 4 years with the rest of my class. I served 4 years in the US Navy and now have 2 associate degrees from Pima College

My first day in 6th grade, my teacher came to my desk and said “i hope you’re the student your brother was”. Nice way to break the ice, huh? Ha. Being compared to your siblings sucks. Everyone is different and has talents of their own.

I would have to say that I think that this could possibly have been one of the aggravations that pushed Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold in the Colombine High School shooting
@shawnduncan5779Ай бұрын
I think that people who fall victim to comparisons like this could ask the aggressor if they kill or hurt someone would you like me to duplicate their actions?

Jan: Dad, I feel so inadequate. Mr. Brady: We all feel that way honey. Jan: That your inadequate? Mr. Brady: No, that you are.

I was only compared to a sibling by a teacher once, and it was unfavorably. My 2 years older brother was not a good student and a troublemaker at school and the teacher thought I'd be like him. I was nothing like him. Eventually the teacher realized that. It's not right for teachers to compare siblings either favorably or unfavorably. They're different people. This teacher should be severely reprimanded.
@shawnduncan577920 күн бұрын
I agree with you there. I think that any teacher who does something like that should be fired.
@TheIgnoredGenderАй бұрын
Marcia never apologized for falsely accusing the boys of taking them.
@kaitiscarlett90225 ай бұрын
That was a shitty thing for the teacher to say. You don't ever compare any two students, siblings or otherwise.

She should have been fired and have lost her tenure.

My sister and I had the same teacher for 2 different subjects in one semester and he gave us both the same mark to avoid sibling rivalry. We had a good laugh about that. He was sweet.

(3:37) ...poor Jan...(0:41)

This upload left out the clip that shows Jan grabbing Marcia's coveted awards to hide them. Poor Jan. They really wrote that character as an insecure kook at this point in the series. The way the scene should have gone ..... Marcia: Alice, did you take my awards down to dust them? Alice: Take them out of your bedroom? Who would *do* such a stupid thing? I dust them on the shelf, like any sane housekeeper would do. 'Take 'em downstairs to dust them??' That's hilarious, kiddo. Oooh, sure, take the precious Marcia Brady trophies and blue ribbons away for a special cleaning. Yeah, and then after that I grabbed Greg's awards and surfboard and hauled them down here for their daily polishing. Too funny.

I’m a teacher and I would never compare a child to an older sibling I’ve had in the past. I might share a funny story or a similar interest but never compare them academically or behavior wise. That’s just wrong.
@jackietrujillo96125 ай бұрын
Jan was jealous of Marcia being popular. The teacher should have kept her mouth shut and not compare with another sibling. Jan never trys if u want a award.

It all worked out for Jan in the long run. On The Bradys, in the early 90's, Jan was a successful architect and Marcia was an alcoholic mess.. probably from the pressure maintaining her perfect image...

Or the complete opposite…..having a algebra teacher tell you that just because you are your older brothers sister that you will be just like him which was bad in algebra and didn’t want to learn anything. So thanks to that teacher.
