a wonderful person and player . I am so happy that she won Wimbledon in 1998 after such heartbreak. The last of the true serve and volley type players. She was beautiful to watch. May she rest in power.

There are very, very few women's tennis players in the world at present who are as humble, gracious and have a beautiful heart as Jana Novotna. Jana has won over 100 titles and yet she has not shown even a hint of being egoistic, proud and boastful about her remarkable achievements. People who says that she was a choker doesn't know much about tennis. You don't labelled someone a choker who has made it to 3 Wimbledon finals. Simply by being in a Wimbledon final in itself is a tremendous achievement. How many players in their lifetime has made it that far? Do we labelled all of them chokers?? Jana was gracious in defeat as she was in victory. Her Wimbledon victory in 1998 was more famous that any other title winners who won there over the years. Her perseverance in winning the final after 3 attempts will go down in Wimbledon as one of the greatest moments in history and will always be remembered by everyone who knows the game. We will all miss you Jana. RIP.

andrew delacruz Jana was such an amazing champion. I think most ppl label her as a choker because her talent was that of a multiple grand slam No.1; she just couldn’t overcome her nerves in some crucial moments. But she was a pleasure to watch and was one of the most graceful tennis players we have seen. RIP Jana, you will be missed!

Well put brother 👍 Whoever has called Jana a choker is a fool and I pity him. What a beautiful lady! What an inspiration she remains. Her "reincarnation " is coming in form of her protege Barbora Krejcikova.

I always felt bad for Novotna, she was talented enough to win more, but couldn’t control her nerves, which as athletes we all know is so difficult. I’ll never forget her fighting spirit and genuine personality. RIP Jana

This was beautiful. She was a graceful and gracious champion, and her Wimbledon victory in 1998 is one of my favorite tennis moments. I had the pleasure of seeing her play live once, in 1996 at a smaller tournament in Philadelphia, and she was marvelous in both singles and doubles, and was patient with fans afterwards when signing autographs. It is very sad that she left us too soon. 😞

In my eyes, she deserves even more credit than some of the greatest champions. Why? She could or should have won more matches after being up or having match points in so many of them. For reasons beyond her control, she often couldn't. Extremely hard in tennis. But she always got back up again to be ready for the next fight. Very, very inspiring. Bravo, Jana.

I adored Jana Novotna and will never forget the semi final she played at Wimbledon against that other great serve-volley player, Navratilova and beat her. It was to put it bluntly a total dog fight. At her best and when nerves permitted, I think she was largely untouchable. Like many, I'll never forget the final against Graf..I think it was the same year, where she walked all over Graf and seemed on the way to a pretty easy victory and it all fell apart. Likewise, I'll never forget the nervy final against Tauziat, when she finally (hurrah) got the title she richly deserved. I was in floods as much as she was 😉 So sad that she's been taken from us too soon. She and Martina will always remain my favourite top 2 players of all time!

You will live eternally in our heart, dear, sweet and smiling Jana. I will leave flowers in your Loving Memory in the Ladies' room of Wimbledon, next June, right before the tournament. I will also go to Brno, your native town, so as to leave flowers on your grave, with poems of love. By the way, I have started to learn Czeck, your native language.

I am not sure about this hall of fame???? So Ivansvic is in the hall fame and he never made to no 1???????? And Thomas Muster the former world no 1 and king of clay before the arrival of Nadal isn’t in the hall of fame????? On what bases do they choose them. They should be ashamed that Goran Ivansvic landed their before Muster is that because his connection with the current world no 1 Djokovic? Don’t get it anymore it’s just too much
