Couldn't agree more. Wonderful player, and a genuinely nice person. One of the saddest episodes was when this huge young star's life was shattered, but she came back with courage, and what I most admire about her, no bitterness. She has devoted her post retirement life to helping others. If anyone deserves happiness, it's Monica, she has brought pleasure to so many.

An icon, a legend, one of the grittiest competitors of all time in any sport, AND an incredibly gracious, grateful, humble, open human being. A true great all around. Hard to appreciate for many in this age of pettiness and ego.

her induction and Goran Ivanesivic's induction...are the only ones Ive ever taken time to watch. I actually got emotional when the crowd gave her a standing ovation...because I remember so vividly the match she played against Katerina Maleeva in Germany, when she was stabbed in between games. He didnt try to injur her...he attempted to murder her. And Monica, a very bright woman, knew it. So, when she won another Australian Open after her time away from the game, it was probably one of the more impressive feats in the history of sport. She was an incredible player...

@Max E she would have gotten it eventually. 8 slams in 3 years and she was still improving. There has never been such a dominant entry onto the tour before or since. Of course there will be Graf fans who will try to argue otherwise, but I think we can all see from Seles life just how irrational and unhinged Graf fans can be.

No doubt would of easily won 15-20 grand slams . She was so dominant from 1991- April 1993! Wining 7 of the 8 grand slams she played in. No doubt she would of dominated the tennis tour till around 1998/99!! Still in my opinion the the greatest female tennis player I have seen. A woman who not only changed the game but also a player who IMO was starting to get on top of and beat another all time great and at the peak of her powers Steffi Graf!!! Still like Monica said she did not come back as the same player in August 1995 but she still have a very good career. Her her first half of her career she won 32 titles 8 grand slams and her second half of her career 1 grand slam and 21 titles.

She is the youngest player to get the first rank and stayed the longest period in the first rank after achieving it and her result against her main competitor before the miserable injury was 7-5. Thus her main competitor is not the best player in the history and except for the injury she would has become the best in the history, we always support you because you are the real legend of the tennis history

Did you see her as a 15 and 16 year old? She was adorable. Talked rapidfire like a machine gun, infectious giggle, and like any teenager tried out all the new hairstyles and fashions. There was a touching story that when Teddy Tinling died, who knew and dressed virtually every female tennis player since the 1920s, the 4 front pews at the church funeral service were reserved for all the expected lady players. Chris Evert and Navratilova were speakers, but not a single other female player came, other than Monica, who had won the French Open the week before, and probably had a busier schedule than most of the others. That tells you all you need to know about a really classy lady.

She could have won many more grand slam titles, but for the unfortunate stabing incident by an uncivilized scoundrel. His reasoning for that cruel act was to see his favourite player Stefi Graf to be the winner always. Graf, of course was a great player, but lot of what could have been great about her game, is discounted ,not because of her but by her fan. I always used to think that many of this great players are great human beings and Monica Seles is definitely one among them.

Amazing player...classy on and off the court! As far as Monica's "grunting" is concerned, it doesn't even compare to the cows being slaughtered when some of the later generation of female players....Sharapova, Azarenaka, Serena, Sabalenka just to name a few! We love you Monica!

My favorite player. She brought women’s tennis into a completely different dimension, took the tour by storm and dethroned Graf. We’ll never know what could have been, had this idiot not successfully attacked her. And shame to WTA for how they handled the whole situation. And believe it or not, the match during which she was attacked still counts as a career loss.

OK, let's face it. There's the Tennis Hall of Fame but there should be a SUPER AWESOME seats of GLORY where only the TOP TOP players get to be inducted. Monica would definitely get one of those seats. But I understand the Hall of Fame is there to recognize no names, people who worked behind the scenes, etc. but the top top top top top tennis players should really get their own hall or whatever. Plus it's should NOT be just about the tennis but are they good citizens outside of tennis? Some inductees are questionable and NO, you cannot separate a player's achievements from their character. Racist? Out. Bigot? Out. Change with the times - these halls should NOT be forever and inductees should be un-inducted if appropriate.

One of my all-time favorites. The saddest thing about the stabbing is it puts an asterisk next to both Seles' and Graf's names. Thanks to that idiot, we'll never know how their rivalry would have unfolded-and neither will Seles or Graf.

Class act, but like kvitova she got victimized and suffered, not being able to meet her true potential. Serena could have lost a few finals if these two had been active. Graf too.

I don't think so that Serena would lose some of the finals if Seles and Graf still active...Remember, there are lot of tennis players were potential like Hingis, Halep, Azarenka, and Venus W., who are very active, energetic, and powerful...Time of Seles/Graf era had past already...Just like Serena she could not run like what she was before....

She is wery bad person! After 4 years working for free with coach Jelena Genčić. One morning she left Yugoslavia, she did not say goodbye to Jelena Genčić, nor did she ever call! Coach Jelena traveled 180 kilometers every day and trained for free, as she did with Novak Djokovic, who behaves similarly to Monica. How bad and ungrateful these tennis players are!
