Might be worth a look at the rods and mains on the engine, depending on how many hours are on it. The high horsepower 426 Chalmers engine were great engines, just hate to see something go wrong due to worn bearings. Good luck. Thanks again for the videos.

Guy by us had one for years. Never seemed to have many problems. Pulled it like it was a 7080, and not like our Versatiles. Lots of people pulled the smaller engines tractors like they were 300hp, and called them junk later when they ragged them out. Not the tractor’s fault!
@liftbig032 жыл бұрын
Funny you mention guys who worked the smaller tractors hard - one of the area farmers when I grew up decided he needed less soil compaction and went "small" by trading a Steiger and a Versatile for two Magnum 7140s to work ground. His planter tractor was a 2wd AC 7080 which was used to pull a 24-row JD planter......that tractor always looked unique because he mounted gray Magnum duals on the back when it pulled that planter, which was huge back then. I always thought it was pretty cool that tractor could handle that big-ass planter.

Yes be careful that the bearings are put in the right way an head gasket can be put on wrong we had one for a while till the mechanic messed it up. Also make sure the drive shift is fixed right or it will come apart again

Looks a great tractor. I like old machinery as it was made to last for many many years. The stuff today is only as good as the computor in it as in a few years you will not be able to get another computor module then the whole show is stuffed.

When you try to jack up put the biggest base down first ,with the smallest down first you just push it in to the ground.

@JandLVideos3 жыл бұрын
Probably just give it a good cleaning, it's looks good in its working clothes. Maybe repaint the black on the frame.
@anthonyklein29443 жыл бұрын
I am not as familiar with that tractor as I am the 70xx series, but I think that rear end is very very similar, meaning the rear drive train is pressure lubricated, and driving it anywhere other than around the yard is NOT a good idea, you could easily seize the high/low range gears to the pinion shaft, without the power shaft connected from the front to rear.
@JandLVideos3 жыл бұрын
I guess I don't really know as well, but definitely will try and find out as that would not be good!

We like the styling, the fact most of the parts are interchangeable with the 7000 series, where the cab is in relation to the pivot point. Still working on the u joint so haven't had a chance to test it in the field yet
