Awesome find Jason! And it appears to still have its original engine in it yet. The 6120T twin turbo engine by Allis-Chalmers was only used in the 8550 and 4W-305 models. Parts are difficult to find at best and no long available at worst, especially pistons. Many of these tractors now have Cummins engine repowers. Love the old orange equipment!

Someone needs to get the mufflers on Queen Mary tightened up and get the rain caps lined up. That’s making my ocd go crazy. Lol

The orange 4WD's are becoming more and more scarce all the time. Sure enjoy the videos when you get them with the AC/AGCO's in them.

Hey Big Tractor Power fans, I just read an article about this Allis-Chalmers articulated tractor in Heritage Iron. I like that big tractor and never seen one.

There's a Versatile New Holland near me in North Eastern Missorui, that one is definitely in my top 5 favourite articulated tractors. My top 3 Manufacturers have to be Versatile, Steiger, and Case IH

Sure do run allis! 8550 pulls a 30' field cultivator for me in the spring, my fwd 8070 pulls the planter, and my fwd 8030 pulls the sprayer. Still got the 220 sitting in the shed that used to pull the field cultivator, along with the 7050 that sprayed and worked ground. Can't forget about the 190xt that did the planting. Got lots of others as yard/play tractors.

A farm I know close by to me has a show worthy 8550 as well as 7065 and 7035 all mint condition. Also these AC springtooths are everywhere in California, we have two 3 point versions ourselves. Love your work BTP

I'm retired now but we used to farm with a 220 Allis and 3 7060s. I loved my Allis Chalmers tractors and hated when Dietz bought them out.

Great video! I worked at a farm when I was in college 20 years ago that had a 8550. They also had a 7580 and 4W-305 Allis 4 wheel drives. Along with a D21 and a 7060. Pretty cool lineup, I think they still have most of them.

We run a 8550 on a 25ft white disk

We have a 7580 old girl 8050 and 8070 as well as a 8030 7045 and 7040 and two 170 loaders all allis power cheap and good

We had a 7040 on a farm I worked on in the early 90s. It was mechanically a sound tractors but shifting and viability left a lot to be desired. I'd pick a 4430 any day.

A 8550 pulling only 24' cultivator? Why did he leave the other 30' in the shed lol! That's easy work for that tractor, they were a pulling beast. Love Allis Power. Allis Chalmers was a very under rated company. Deere guys talk smack all they want, but Allis was an innovator and would out work any tractor back in the day and do it more economical too.

Our local AC dealer sold one of these and they said the worst part was that Allis forced them to buy all the special service tools and keep a certain number of parts on hand even though there was only one tractor around. They did however sell a lot more of the smaller 7580’s.

I use an 7020 allis to pull a discbine and massey round baler.

AND i dont just enjoy the "vintage" tractors view . FACT of the matter , these old horses and mules were FAR more reliable than modern equipment . i have learned diagnostic programs of 7 manufacturers and a couple aftermarket programs .... jussayin' ..... RELIABLE old stuff

Ironically every piece of literature you see on those tractors says production ended in 1981, there were units dated 1982. We had one. I really like your videos, but I have to say that to say anything glowing about the 8550 is misplaced. They were a terrible pos. I really couldn’t say enough bad things about them. I would estimate without going into detail, ours would have experienced 10-15 major breakdowns, and a host of minor ones to long to mention. A video on the case 9190 would be interesting

Allis makes great tractors. But boy are they ugly!
