I’d like to put forth a theory: I think Karnak always intended for Jane to win, or at least was heavily trying to sway the odds in her favour. He seemed to know what the kids were like personality wise already and probably knew they would never have the heart to choose anyone else. They might mourn the lives and opportunities they lost, but she can’t even remember a life to mourn losing. (I also think Jane might haunt the fairgrounds since she’s the first one we meet at the start of the show without Karnak using his ability to bring back the others.) I think the true point of the competition was to allow the kids to make peace with the tragedy, themselves, and each other. Ricky might have even figured it out when he decided to concede, hence his monologue afterwards.

Your theory that Jane may also haunt the fairgrounds would also explain the Victorian styled modifications to her uniform and the vintage doll she holds onto! I personally believe that she died in previous accident many years before. I love the theories everyone comes up with for this musical istg 😭

Unfortunately, she is seen in all the flashbacks to when she was alive, but her face is never seen. It’s always blotted out in some way. So that part of the theory would be incorrect

I feel like when Jane/Penny says, "A melody floats through the air, when silence falls, does no one care?" Could represent people not knowing who she is. Basically, "A melody floats through the air" can represent her falling out of the coaster and screaming in the air, while "When silence falls, does no one care?" Is when she gets decapitated, and her screaming stops, but "no one care?" Is the police finding the body and not knowing who she is, but her wondering if they care enough because the whole ballad of Jane Doe is about her finding it unfair that she does not know who she is, neither do the police and other people.

I have a theory- I think she’s able to fly bc she flew/fell out of the car at the top of the coaster, hence her ascending and descending scales with the super high note at the very top, right at the drop which is where she fell out of the car and likely screamed all the way down until her head was cut off by something she hit before getting to the ground. Very specific theory but I think it makes sense :]

Constance was always a little creeped out by Jane but they ended up bonding over random things once Constance understood Jane. Another version of RTC I reccomend is McCarter Theater. The guy who plays Mischa and sings Thalia's version from this theater has AMAZING vocals. I think he and Ashlynn Maddox where both on McCarter and Arena Stage. Love how Mischa instead of saying Birthday he says Borthday and you can literaly notice.

You kniw what I find interesting? (Theory time!!!!) When Jane says what she finds terryfiying: a lioness stopping sex with the lion, so the lion kills the cubs, then the lioness continues? I feel like Jane didnt die on the rollerciaster, i think she was killed. Namely, by her father, or fatherly figure in her life. (This is pure headcannons now!) I think Jane's mother had Jane and stopped 'making love' to Janes father. The father got extremely jealous and killed Jane, probably by beheading her. He heard about the Cycline incident as he was figuring out what to do with the body, dressed her in a choir uniform and hid her body near the Cyclone, for the police to find. Thats why they never found her head, it was never there in the first place. Jane's mother was distraught, but the father cinsoled her by saying 'its okay, we can have another child', so the mither never came looking. This, or they fled the country. Jane woukdnt have known the sadness the mother felt, just that she never came and identified her body. Thats why she is so scared by it, its what she believed happened to her, which caused her death

I have a small theory as why Constance blew out the candle (idk if she had a reason) since Jane has a doll head, and most of her hair is probably synthetic, Constance might’ve been worried it would’ve caught on fire so she blew it out for her :)

there's a crane behind her in the dark- she has a harness that attaches directly at the back (attached when the curtains are there) and can move her horizontally and at angles

Hi! I do rigging for my theater that is how you normally get someone to fly, you’ll put them in a harness and have people or machine lift and lower, for the spinning im not sure put most likely she was attached to a machine like the other comment says
