I bawled when he first died, and stopped watching any more. Was surprised to find out they brought Michael back. They should have ended it then and there.

Nicole Osborn i totally agree and thought the same thing when the flashbacks popped up! Rafael will always be a second choice, if Michael was never tortured and taken away Jane never would have even looked at Rafael. He is her backup. The thing about family in this show frustrates me because in early s3 it showed how you make your family work and to let go of the perfect family plan- then they have thrown that idea in the trash the last two seasons.

yeet I’m not saying that it isn’t hard on Rafael, just that Michael is the one who truly lost EVERYTHING, and he instead acts like Michael coming back was his own fault (yet Rafael brought him back). I just think Rafael’s characterization has been bad this season. Rafael is a victim, but Michael is the victim above all.

dude ikr. they could’ve just left him dead or at least have Jane get back together with him. he became an entirely different person and it ruined everyones view of him. he may be different but rafael was forcing Jane to choose between him or the man she had loved and grieved for four years prior to his return as Jason and when Jane was conflicted, rafael got pissed. meanwhile, Michael was willing to leave once he got his memories back without telling Jane just so she could remain happy with rafael, yet Michael was somehow “intruding”. Michsel lost everything and Rafael continued to act like the victim.

I mean, the guy’s been through so much! Losing his memories of the person he wanted to spend the REST OF HIS LIFE with just because he bumped into someone at a coffee place 😐and now he has all his memories back, he feels like two people but all he’s sure about is that he still loves Jane. And yet, Jane chooses Rafael. KNOWING how alone this would leave him, he let her go to be happy. Even though she was taking his heart with her. Michael always put Jane first and made sure she knew he loved her. I loved that about him. Rafael is okay too, but to me Michael is just better in every way. Rafael always gave Jane trouble whenever she chose Michael. But Michael selflessly let Jane go because he cared about her happiness more than anything; if Jane wasn’t happy with him, he’d let her be with someone who could make her happy, not force her to be in a relationship she didn’t want to be in. Rafael literally guilt trips Jane for choosing Michael by saying she’s ruining their family. Rafael told her to be brave, write the book. Chase your dreams. He changed wonderfully, and I loved his character development. He became more mature, and selfless enough to get Michael when Sin Rostro told him about him. But he wasn’t selfless enough to give Jane a moment to think. He acted how he did because he was scared, but he acted like what she was doing was just sooo crazy! He saw how broken she was when Michael left, and now he wanted her to send him away? Michael would have had a serious conversation with Jane to help her SORT OUT her feelings. He would feel just as conflicted as Jane as to what she should do. Not just “send him away it’s you and me now.” To me, Rafael isn’t bad for Jane. I think he’s quite good for her, actually. Pushes her in the right direction. But Michael will always be better, and do better by her.

The creators already mentioned Raf is end game. Supposedly he wasn't right for her in the beginning but since he has changed now they work well together.. or so is their justification for bringing back old memories of a beloved character for ratings to only have him be utterly changed in order to be pushed aside... sigh (lol... fortunately there is this video with what one hopes could have been)

I like both of them. Rafael is the "bad boy" who learns to be marriage material and Michael the "good boy" who dies young. I stopped watching as regularly in the middle of the show's run because they committed the usual sin of dragging out the love triangles too long. Not sure how convincing Rafael's redemption has been, although like I said, I didn't see all of it. The show was magic in the beginning and has had its moments since (I think Jane's Dad may be my favorite character--he is hysterical) but I think it's time to end it.

Yeah - Michael truly loved her, and Jane truly loved him until Mateo. A child changed everything. If she had been pregnant with Michael's baby or even had a Michael baby after Mateo then it would have been different. I hated the way Michael came back. Ugly character. And hated the way they parted with Charlie acting like a low-life, nasty person married to such a sweet man who's passion was once being a detective and romance. Rogelio was his best man and they didn't show any empathy or compassion really once Michael came back. Michael's life was stolen from him, he went through hell, and no one seemed to recognize this. Everyone was more focused on themselves so all seemed rushed and out of character. It was the only thing about the whole series and the name "Baby" for the baby that was really off and bad.

@@vickij8417 She couldn't have gotten pregnant with Michael's baby because Michael was just a side character. The story was about Jane, Rafael and Mateo finding their happily ever after in the end narrated by her son Mateo.

I can explain it for you. It's because Rafael and Jane's love is the kind of love you fantasize about as a child who doesn't know any better. But Michael and Jane's love is real love, the stable, neverending love that you actually need. The love you tend to find when you grow up and mature.

I love Jane and Rafael because I find their story so relatable, life is not some big fairy tale and you're taken on this magic carpet ride. Life is about choices and for better or for worse you have to stick with those choices. As Jane to told Raf in season 1, you got to fight for what you want and he fought and won her heart. Btw I am 40+ years old, and I don't consider myself as a younger person.

Michael and Jane is what real love is. Rafael and Jane is the kind of thing you fantasize about as a child. What you THINK love is.

Jane said to her 'Luisa doesn't love you anymore, sometimes people fall out of love like Michael and I did'. When Jane broke up with Michael in season 1, she told her mother and grandmother that she broke up with Michael because she was falling in love with Rafael. When she almost had sex with Rafael in the pool and her mother asked her what was she thinking, Jane replied I love 💕 him, I want this to work. Do that sound like a person who doesn't know what they want? She loved Rafael dearly, she was backed against the wall, when Raf told her that he didn't love her and I believe she just married Michael as a safe choice.
