I have been watching the Academy Awards since 1981. Never missed a year. And this performance actually made me cry because l was so excited how Miss. Monae made them/us come alive. I was already excited because this was Oscar night. But this was the perfect welcome. By the time she rose from the floor at 4:54 and the music amplified, you could actually feel the energy. l was clapping with the rest of the audience. Thank you, Miss. Monae!!!!

If she ever plays anywhere near your home, go see her live. I've played with bands, seen 1000s of bands live, I've seen James Brown and Michael Jackson live. She is hands down the best live act I've ever seen.

I would fight a war of roses for Janelle everyday ! I've been loving her ever since Metropolis and ArchAndroid. So amazing in so many ways and if you think this performance abounds with frenetic energy- go back and watch the 'Come Alive' live performance from 2011 Glastonbury.....it will make your whole body vibrate with electricity like the true Android you were born to be !!

Take in note: most people there are actors, they know how to fake a laugh/smile. But she managed to get a true smile from most of them. That's a pretty hard thing to get.
