Love BJU, I’ve been doing Heritage Studies and Science since first grade with my almost 4th grader. I got all the new editions so I went Parent Led, but can’t wait to use DLO with my younger children in the upcoming years. They are upgrading the videos 🎉🎉.

We will start the 3rd grade level combo course this year with my kids I combined that for them and I am excited! I needed video lessons in this season and I know we will have a great year!

I have been a subscriber for some time but honestly havent been watching much of homeschool related anything lately. Until now because im struggling lol. You have a big list of videos that i think would be helpful and i plan to watch but do you have a video of your daily homeschool routine? I have 7 kids ages 1yr-11yrs. I teach everything myself and not sure how to fit it in the day. Also do the kids who watch video lessons watch at the same time on different devices or take turns? Even videos seem a little too much. Ive been using masterbooks for science and social studies and just doing all grades together. I cant imagine each kid having their own thing for each subject 😱

In the beginning of our homeschool journey, I taught everything. We did some group learning for science and history and then I rotated through helping each kid. I shared our "large family homeschool schedule" on my blog. That is when I started using video lessons. I felt like a homeschool mom failure using them but God showed me that this was where He had us for a season. I’ll have a 3rd and 1st grader this upcoming school year as well but I’m wanting to teach science and social studies to them both together for the sake of time. Would this work well to accomplished that purpose and if so, would you use the older or the younger grade level textbooks and workbooks?

You can easily combine them for science and social studies. Which grade level curriculum you choose really depends on your kids as well as what topics you want to cover. You could use 1st, 2nd or 3rd grade curriculum.

I know this is an old video but I'm hoping you see this comment and respond. We are in our 2nd year of homeschooling. Both years we have used BJU Science and history parent led and done it family style. Our first year we used 5th grade for my 5th grader and 3rd grader. This year we are using 6th grade science and history for my now 6th grader and 4th grader. My question is have you ever used BJU Science or History family style? Have you ever done different grade levels but still done science experiments together? I'm considering switching to doing these subjects independently next year but I'm wondering if the topics, especially in science, overlap enough to do the experiments as a family. I see if you've used BJU in older grades that's why I'm asking for your insight. I hope my questions make sense. Thank you.

While the elementary science books do cover similar topics from year to year, they don't always match up well for group experiments. I have found that combining kids into one grade level for science or history works well with BJU Press curriculum. For example, a 2nd grader and 4th grader could do 3rd grade science and/or history together. Hope that helps.
