i had a feeling this was about tina and rene. also tina got pissed at janet for not saying her husband was cheating on her. janet said that if he was man enough he would tell tina himself, but he never did, tina found out got pissed at janet for not telling her about her cheating husband and stopped talking to her. janet said it wasn't her place, she told her tina's hubby what to do, he didn't do it, not jan's fault.

As Janet said at the beginning of the song, this song (particularly the beat) was for the clubs. But if you look deeper, this song was actually about knowing about the company (friends, hangers-on, and etc.) you keep in your life.

This is false. This is about Tina Landon and Rob (another dancer during the velvet rope era) who were engaged. He was messing around and Janet knew about it and didn't tell Tina, that made Tina upset. Usually when you tell friends what's going on, they take it the wrong way, which is why Janet kept her mouth shut and told Rob if he didn't tell her she would. She explains it on Tyra's show back in 2006. It should be on here
