Janet Jackson's musical emancipation. This entire album was a MASTERPIECE. Janet had something to say, something to prove, and she said it and proved it with nothing but power. Control is her story. In my opinion, it remains one of the most important R&B-pop albums of the last 40 years.

But they are the main TARGET group, for several reasons - e.g. an average teen is not so individualistic like a well-grown-up and has constant needs of belonging somewhere, hence they are way easier to manipulate. I really wish Michael had different influences growing up. He was such an attractive guy, until he followed his father's obsession with plastic surgery and took away his naturally attractive features.😒❓ Love this JAM❗❗❗

@@timdavis4332 bruh... Michael was always beautiful tf you on? And those surgeries were reconstructive NOT Cosmetic. He had Lupus and Vitiligo and was prone to injury. Not to mention he burnt his scalp and had to wear hair extensions and later wigs. Despite all that, he was still one of the finest specimens to walk this earth and that's on Periodt!!!!

I'm Black Man of 65yrs now and back then or should I say 2 to 3yrs prior to this song l'd Lost My Beloved Grandmother, A Very Close Great Friend and the Separation of Me from My Children, Only to find out very soon that one of Them was not My Biological Child!! With all of this l was quite over whelmed!! Upon which sent Me into a Deep Depression and was a short list of People there to Encourage Me, THANK YOU "GOD"!!! And There were also a short list of Songs that were very helpful in My Recovery and This Song Encouraged Me to "Take Control of My Life"!! It was an Anthem for Me and For Me as l saw it!! +Channah Racham , Not always. In between Rhythm Nation and Janet she lost a noticeable amount of weight. Check out the video for " That's the way live goes" Which was on her "Janet" album( 1993). She went down to less than 130 lbs. She also says she was at her heaviest in her" When I think of you video" which I think came out in late 1986 or early 87.

I was 16 when this came out and had just gotten my drivers license. I blared this cassette over and over while I ran red lights, dodged animals and tried not to wreck. An absolute work of art. This whole album was so fresh, original and ahead of its time. Shout out to Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis for making the magic happen! Timeless.

This is the Janet that was a force to be reckoned with. Everything from the music, choreography/energy, music video concepts, created a shockwave of new talent that will never be forgotten with the generation that experienced this era. Hell, she is still prime but this era was a breakthrough. Michael's sister, a phenomenon of her own talents as well, raised the bar in pop culture.

I swear this woman was my first crush. I was 6 when she hit the scene and you couldn’t tell me I wasn’t going to grow up and marry Janet Jackson. I tell my wife all the time I loved only two women her and Janet. She laugh at it and even took me to see her in concert. 36 years later I still love this woman. Don’t judge me😂😂.

I was under that strict mess by my mom too. They make you doubt yourself so they can stay in control over you. When you finally move out, you feel great - just so free like you just learned to breathe. Mine was not abusive but she had to keep her control over me. When I moved out, I finally exhaled. I was very grown by the way. I was about 22 yrs old with a good job already.
