In a 7th grade art class ages ago, we turned this farmhouse kitchen-style into couture-class, layered tulle cocktail and dinner party aprons. It was very easily done with several yards of designer tulle remnants gathered into beautiful bouffant aprons. The densely gathered tulle aprons were invisibly machine-sewn into foldover bowtie sashes made from wide grosgrain ribbon in complementary colors. Some of us made elaborate beaded and sequinned felt appliques for the tulle skirts. Beautiful unadorned gift aprons were quickly made from ombre layers of matte or iridescent tulle. Recipients loved them. They looked very expensive and were always admired worn over silk and velvet hostess skirts.

Cute apron! Only one question? Does a half apron suffice for anything but a serving, hostess apron? I would definitely get spills and spatters on my clothing above the half apron’s coverage. Therefor, I always sew full coverage apron styles!
@ernestinasanchez53052 жыл бұрын
@Carolynn Scoffield I agree with you. I would also need a full apron, the good thing is that she also has a tutorial for them.
@JanHowell2 жыл бұрын
Half aprons are good for wiping hands while cooking, serving and hosting. But I do agree, I prefer a full apron as I tend to splatter things all down the front of me while cooking. I do love the looks of a half apron at times. I have a tutorial for a reversible full apron if you're interested. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/bMWli5Sftq64dnk.html

Hi, if you cut off the sleeves and the back of shirt leaving the collar intact to still pull over your head. You can use the remaining back for the apron and waist ties. Use 1/4 in seam allowance to clean up edges. You'll need ballpoint needle for easier sewing.

You could cut off the top portion and add a waistband and ties. You would gather to the measurements to fit the width of the pattern. It probably won't have a lot of gathers.
