It makes this Old Hippie so happy to see younger generation of people that weren't even alive when Janis was popular enjoying her music and her talent reaching across the decades to them. I was crazy over Janis and I remember the day in art class when we heard that she had passed away and we were all broken hearted. She was more than just the first female Superstar front person for a rock band, she was an extremely intelligent person who cared about people and civil rights and was very vocal about it. She burned like a meteor in her short life and is still burning. So great to see your reaction. Janis LIVES.

I had the privilege and pleasure of seeing Janis in person her last time performing at the Avalon Ballroom in SF. Knocked everybody's socks and left us all changed forever. A light that burned too brightly and burned up too soon. She still knocks me out every single time.

Just to know what's going through Cass' mind as she was witnessing this... Obviously, she knew of Janis and respected her artistry, but there had to be an element of "Damn... We need to step up the game" going on there. ;-)

THANK YOU!! Janis Joplin was such a Tortured Soul and Definitely brought it out from her Heart and Soul in her Vocals!! Yes She Died as she subconsciously had a death wish from All The Crap She was Forced to Endure in her Life!! Really think Robert Plant tried to emulate her (Led Zeppelin Vocalist)!! Did You Notice The Woman with the Sunglasses that they showed in the Audience midway through the Video?? THAT Was None Other than Mama Cass Elliott!! Another Great Vocalist and tortured Soul who was obviously Mesmerized by this performance!! Thanks Again for bringing this Back as it Well Deserved!!

Yes, Mamma Cass and I think Bob Dylan beside her Gob Smacked. Janis was like The first female rock star. The Monterey Pop Fest was shot as a movie then ran in Theaters worldwide. Janis played twice it was her first big audience. and they forgot to record them. So they came back later and did that performance. a lot of the other bands were in the audience.

Hi Jay. THIS IS MY VERY 1ST COMMENT I'VE EVER LEFT!! Im 58yrs old n I SO ENJOYED WATCHING YOU "FEEL" JANIS' PERFORMANCE. It was THIS performance that Clive Barker saw that moved him 2 sign her 2 a record contract. The WOMAN U saw in the crowd that was wowed by Janis was no other than MAMA CASS ELLIOTT of The Mammas n the Pappas. She had 1 of the most BEAUTIFUL voices in history as well albeit a very different one. I really enjoy hearing yr reactions bcuz YOU FEEL THE MUSIC!! U hv a gift as well my friend. I applaud yr love 4 music thats so REAL. We share that gift 4 the LOVE OF MUSIC. THANK YOU. The fact yr the ONLY PERSON I'VE EVER LEFT A COMMENT TO I GUESS tells you how much I enjoy watching you. Dont feel as tho u hv2 "groove" 2 a song b4 u truely "feel" it .....if u dont mind my saying that. Altho THAT'S wat ppl like me want 2 watch ppl like u enjoy the music of my generation. I cant understand why some even HAVE a REACTION CHANNEL WEN THEY DONT REACT!! But try 2 show yr reactions a bit after u "get it" if u know wat I mean? It's ok 2 listen for a sec or 2 till the MUSIC actually MOVES U 2 WANT 2 "GROOVE" 2 IT. Hope u dont mind my "critiquing" you in this way. But plz continue the wonderful road yr on. It will take you 2 the ocean that yr dipping in2. Yes....JUMP IN. THE WATER IS FINE!! ENJOY RIDING THE WAVE!! YUV GOT A LIFETIME AHEAD OF YOU LOOKING BACK IN TIME.

First off... Love you and your reactions !! as a side note. Janis Joplin and Big Brother and the Holding Company (relative "Unknowns" from San Francisco) played the first day of Monterey, to rave reviews. The cinematographer, D.A. Pennebacker, was late to arrive and the first day was not recorded on film, so the promoters (this year the promoters were John and Michelle Phillips. "half" of the very popular group, "The Mama's and the Papa's". (That's why "Mama" Cass Elliot was featured in the recording) invited Janis back on the last day to perform "Ball & Chain" again, to be filmed. Her backing group feared Janis would be signed leaving them to fend for themselves. The promoters also informed a bunch of "record labels", that this sensational women was going to perform again on the last day, so about 8 record companies offered her a contract, and she signed with Clive Davis from Colombia Records, contingent that her band be signed with her. The rest, as they say... "Is history" !!
