Y’all should listen to the studio version as well! She is high as a kite in this video.Unfortunately she liked more than weed. The drugs got the best of her. She was the ultimate singer and entertainer. I love her!❤️❤️❤️

Janis wore her soul like a blanket trying to protect her from pain, hurt, anger, & even love! This woman was one of a kind, & sadly missed by everyone who loved & understood her music ❤ 💚 💙 She truly was a gift that was only with us for a short time, but what a glorious time it was!!! Acid was a big drug for rock stars back in the day. When you mentioned Janis Joplin I can't help but mention Jimmy Hendricks because I got exposed to them when I was only 11 in 1970. I did acid before I smoked weed and Janis and Jimmy is what we listened to. Yes when I got older and went to concerts, 16-17, joints would be passed around in both directions in the crowd and we never had a shooting because it was about enjoying life, love and having sex.

You should listen & watch her live videos to Summertime, Cry Baby, especially this Live performance Ball & Chain at the Monterey Pop festival, her first time being on the big stage. Yes Janis died of a heroin overdose. She was my favorite & this was not her at her best as you guys were fixed on how high she & everyone must have been (which of course they were, everyone at concerts in my time were high) other than her voice that gives you the chills.

@jeff lee half of one, half a dozen of another to me. I get your point but in the end, the result is the same. Typically bad heroin is that it is too pure and that results in an overdose.

THANX for that, H&J, you lovelies crack me up!! Janis Joplin ( from your youthful perspective), died a lifetime ago. she was, as you jokingly commented, from the "Hippie Generation", & she loved her heroin & Southern Comfort liqueur; our Ms. Joplin didn't fool around. --> methinks you 2 masters-of-music would appreciate doing some research on her, she's bloody fascinating, she was friends with some of the world's most iconic musicians; Jimi Hendrix, Jim Morrison from the Doors, John Lennon of the Beatles, (probably) The Stones, & the most successful & widely known Black Headbangers, R&B Musicians, Soul/Gospel legends of their era. the gal was always telling the press that she wanted to be a Black, Blues-Rock fusion Warrioress. - here's a comment from a serious GOAT: “Janis Joplin sings the blues as hard as any black person.” - B.B. King. ~ w i z a r d. Janis only chose, "Piece of My Heart", bc it was originally recorded by Erma Franklin in 1967. watch some documentaries on Joplin, Ms. Jai, one of her most potent desires was to be a gorgeous Black woman. Janis-baby probably was in a pastlife, & the "blues feelin' mama" was perhaps aching to be that energy again. had to toss that info in, bc she was not always thrashed outta her head on heroin & booze, when she became "electric" on stage. she was a focused & uninhibited Goddess. excuse the screenplay.... I adore your Reactions; play Erma Franklin's, "Take Another Piece of My Heart", I haven't heard it yet.

I was 10 then but still listened growing older. Songs just didn’t die off like they do now, so we got to appreciate the 60s in the 70s too. She died in 1970 at 27 same year as Jimi Hendrix and Jim Morrison. Check out Jimi and Jim of the Doors

She was told early in her career "woman don't sing Rockn'Roll". Pffft!.....Hold my purse & be carefull my drugs are in there. Then went on to be an icon in Rockn'Roll. Tragically her career was cut short ya know due to the "70's life style" When I was about 10 I heard "Bobby Magee" and was floored by her voice. Please give that one a listen to. R.I.P. Janis.

Janice was, is and always will be the perfect picture in life as a true hippie. She was a tough ass, f#@k U, hard drinking and partying kind of girl who honestly loved. Kind of naive because she ran from everything hard in life through drugs and alcohol. Music and drugs was Janice's core. Her heart and soul went into every recording and concert. She was definitely the coolest cat in the room. Rock or blues, Janice was down.

Story time: My mom was a big fan of Janis so for Mother's Day, wayyyy back in 2002, my brother and I took her to the off-Broadway show about Janis' life. The woman who played Janis' signing voice was amazing so I looked her up and have been a fan ever since. Almost every show she does at least one Janis cover. She actually had a role in the movie Across the Universe based on Beatles songs. Her name is Dana Fuchs. You don't have to do a reaction video to this but if you like Janis' voice you definitely will love Dana's. Happy listening! 😊😊 kzfaq.info/get/bejne/kNd0m9iau8zce30.html

Me and Bobby Magee is one if her most listened to, imo. Back then it was mostly heroin and acid tabs. Janice drank whiskey and did acid almost daily and still mellowed with cigarettes and joints.
