That little clip of Mama Cass saying "wow.." sums up how phenomenal Janis Joplin is and will always be. We're so fortunate to have video and recordings of her. I've seen clips and you can tell she was adorable, friendly, giving and, one of the greatest vocalists (male or female) of all time. Wish I was there to see her

I think you're totally right!! Sometimes I look at photos of her and she seems so old, but others, she looks like a literally teenager. So young and sweet. Thank you for watching!!

Jani Joplin has very few who could compare to her vocal. The ONLY one is Steve Marriot of The Small Faces and Humble Pie. If you want to see the real Janis and Jimi you should watch Dick Cavett Show. Both of them are shy and so humble. Which curiously, is a trait of great performers. I dig this lady's KZfaq crib. Subscribed. Peace and love.

Thanks friend!! And I totally agree - for some reason the artists always seemed to be more open and honest on Dick Cavett - some amazing interviews for sure. And I also totally agree about Steve Mariott!! Fricken love that guy. Thanks for watching!!

@@raisedbyhippies3792 Thank you so much. So, kind of you, to say RBH. I have NEVER seen a bad Cavett interview. I always get the impression Dick was more nervous in the interviews than the people he was interviewing? And maybe that created a natural rapport with who he was interviewing? You know they knew they could relax. Compare him and Joe Rogan and you'll see what I mean. But, WOW. This was one hell of a era to be an interviewer. You go from Jimi Hendrix to Orson Welles to Roger Moore. Back then, stars WERE stars. Plus, they had real talent and you didn't have a situation where you knew everything to the point they lost their power? Mariott was similar to Eric Burdon. You know they grew up listening to blues records but you still can't understand where their singing talent came from. Maybe they developed it like Jim Morrison? There's something special about vinyl. It has a lovely deep rounded sound to it. And then of course there's Mama Cass. Another natural singer. I love "Make your own kind music" because it is PERFECTLY Mama Cass. Her groove was: be yourself and LOVE IT. Don't let other people's bad vibes drag you down. Live life with a smile no matter what. Now, that is, a great mindset. David

@@davidaston5773 I agree with you about the Dick Cavett interviews: they are great, revealing the stars' personalities. Janis and Dick especially seemed to have a special rapport, a certain giggle under the breath. Breathlessness on her part. I enjoy watching them on KZfaq. I just have to say since I'm here commenting that I love your channel name, @Raised By Hippies. That is cool 😎

Thank you@@schevalirae. It has got to the point where the interviewer is making it about them. Notice on Cavett and others how their guests were treated as stars. Now, the guests, are equals to the stars. That and the over exposure of the lives of stars and the inner working of showbiz, has removed the power and importance of stars. The whole point of being a star is that you're on a level above others. You're out of reach of the everyday person. Or at least you have achieved a level of success and impact on the world that makes you a special man or woman. When you can engage, read about everything stars are doing and the stars themselves are CLOSER to the public it really has destroyed something special. Compare Orson Welles on Dick's show to say one of the stars of the Marvel movies. They're both rich, successful and stars but there IS A VERY BIG DIFFERENCE. Welles still holds a wonder over us decades after he died. Can we really say that about modern stars?
