Janis put every once of her being into her performances, no holds barred. To tap into one's emotions like that is something only very few singers can pull off or do!

First (to like, comment, and view)! YAYYY! More Janis! 😁👏👏👏 True fact here...This song was considered to be proto-metal. I have heard Janis Joplin to be the godmother of (heavy) metal. And I think this is the song that paved the way for that genre.

What a treasure that someone actually video-ed this back in the day so we can still enjoy 50 years later, and Janis is great (left us wayyyyy too soon), especially her rant in the middle section. Her best live vocals, IMHO, is "Summertime" or "Ball and Chain" off of Big Brother & Holding Co. (audio) = please consider reacting to. Thx India!

I used to be laughed at for liking Janis Joplin’s music. But I always stood by her sound. I’m glad to know many years after her passing. That she is loved and appreciated, probably even more now, then back then

Great song! The original version of this one was called TELL DADDY and was recorded by Clarence Carter. Etta James also recorded a version of it as well, and hers is probably my favorite version even though I think Janis really kicked it. You should check the other versions too.

I first heard this with just the audio (a CD bonus track) and when she started talking to the "young cat about 17yo and about this tall" I reacted exactly the way you did. If Janis had told my 17yo self that, the only possible answer would have been "yes MA'AM." :D Love your reaction!

Love me some Joplin!!! 👍🤩When you have a chance, India, would you please react to 15 year old, Courtney Hadwin's cover of Janis Joplin's "Piece of my Heart"? You may remember Courtney from America's Got Talent where, as a 13 year old a couple years ago, her audition amassed 56+ million YT views! She did this Joplin cover last year at a concert by rock group, The Struts, when they invited her to perform 2 songs with the, including Piece of my Heart. YOU. WILL. LOVE. IT!!! 💖😎

Some people have a funny reaction to her saying I found out at 14 years old put on 63 years old and my mom was a year older than Janice at 14 years old in Texas back then you could have a driver's license even when I was going to school in the early seventies how was the score of the five girls that was married at 14 years old and your husband would pick them up for lunch it was a different time people looked at things different me and my wife had our first kid when we was 17 our second child when we was 18 and we've been married for 46 years times change what was acceptable 40/50 years ago people look strange at now but it was normal

This song was one that was not on her main albums . Here she was near her untimely end . Her face is puffy , her voice more ragged than even a year before . But she is happy and partying with the Canadian Festival crew . Stay away from heroin , yall .
