I shot a buck 19 years ago, hit 2 with my cars, and recently had to shoot a beautiful buck on the side of the road because another car hit it and snapped his spine. He looked up at me trying to get up and I hated to put him down. It broke my heart. I don’t have the desire to ever kill another one the rest of my life unless my family is in desperate need for food. They’re amazing, peaceful animals and fun to watch. We just throw mineral blocks and corn out in the back yard and let them do their thing.

Yeah, because now that buck is not as likely to know the difference between this human friend and one that could suddenly shoot him dead. I'm a bit envious, but it's better if this deer didn't have such a close relationship to a dangerous predator (the human, of course).

That buck now has a huge disadvantage to survival come hunting season each year. Perhaps a bit offset by the fact it has more chance of surviving because it has a food source now it can rely on. But yea, feel like this guys days are numbered…

For this deer the guy seems to own a huge plot of private land that he can deny hunting on. And with the fact the deer gets fed by this guy he wouldn't have a reason to wonder off the land. There is also a doe in the background so this deer as unlimited food and hoes in that front yard he will be fine.

And we get like 12-15 at a time in our backyard every morning just about dawn. it’s at a wood line and then the woods go down to a crick and tons of trees. They won’t stay still if I go out there though. ALL of them start running into the woods. There’s one that looks like a teen buck. He’s got only little bumps where his antlers are going to come in, and this particular one is the only one that will stay out there. I live in a basement and I’ll step outside to have a smoke at night and hes right there usually with only 2 others .the others run away immediately. But he will stay and chomp on the grass and leaves of the trees. I still can’t get close to him but he will continue eating as long as I’m a good 12 feet away or more.
