Japan and the Philippines are set to enhance their strategic ties in the wake of rising tensions with China over the South China Sea. Senior defense and foreign affairs officials from both countries will meet in Manila to finalize a critical defense pact, which follows the recent agreement between Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida and Philippine President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. to allow reciprocal military access for joint exercises. This initiative, part of a broader effort to counter China's assertive regional actions, includes Japan's provision of coastal surveillance radar, patrol vessels, and other defense equipment to bolster the Philippines' maritime capabilities. The escalating confrontations, highlighted by a recent violent incident at the Second Thomas Shoal where Chinese forces damaged Philippine vessels and seized naval equipment, underscore the urgency of this alliance. The United States and other regional allies have expressed strong support for this partnership, emphasizing the need for a collective response to maintain regional stability and uphold international maritime law. The forthcoming Reciprocal Access Agreement between Japan and the Philippines represents a significant shift in regional geopolitics, marking a new era of defense cooperation and mutual commitment to a secure and prosperous Asia-Pacific. The Filipino soldiers have a wealth of actual combat experience when they battled Communist insurgents and Islamic terrorists for decades..The Japanese have the technology and systems… Combine that with the military power of the US, this JAPHUS alliance would counter the CCP’s expansionist agenda and imperialistic ambitions.

@@CaelanCromwell Nothing replaces actual combat experience.. The dynamics of an actual combat can’t be completely matched by simulation or training. Some soldiers are only good at training but mess up in actual combat. I believe that the only disadvantage that the Filipino soldiers have would be the inadequate equipment which the US and Japan committed to provide. Yes, time will tell.

@@CaelanCromwell Actual combat experience is more valuable than superior equipment, but that experience will only matter in a land war. However, if war ever starts it will almost entirely be a naval and air war, in which both have 0 experience in, but China has an overwhelming advantage, the PH has no chance of winning that war without direct help from the US.

@@ogbaar3285Yeah that’s why we should probably make concessions on the filipino citizenship that forbids us in fighting foreign wars. It would be hella useful and profitable if we’d get our troops to fight in Europe, Africa, etc. Hell we might even consider joining both sides of any conflicts equally to really figure out a doctrine suited for us, as we’re sure to face a diverse set of combatants (like wagner/experienced mercenaries and full blown state armies)

Japan has some missile and had very good tactics that could share to us on how to defend our island since this war will be on hybrid battle, it will take over and advancing through island to island where it will determine the war status. Japan was very good choice since in terms of experience and technology japan has it the hybrid system that could transfer tanks from island to island for 10 mins imbark to the vehicle.
