Malia Madamalama I felt the same way after my first visit there. I can't find the link, but if you search for "JR Yamanote mp3" you will be able to download a zip file of about 20-30 of these tunes. I did this and use them as ringtones. The quality is also higher than in this video... If I can find them, I'll post the link. :)

Not every song however, some were by Hiroshi Shiozuka like for Tokyo Station, Gotanda Station, and Yurakucho Station,. Some were by Uni-pex, and others the composers are just unknown.

@@texasyoshi Yeah, none of the melodies played here are composed by Minoru Mukaiya however. The only ones I know he did were the departure melodies for the Tokyo Metro Tozai Line and arriving melodies for Koshien station on the Hanshin Line.

I had a night where I didn't have anywhere to stay in Shinjuku because there were no available hotels, I had to wait hours walking around and when I finally catch the first train around 4:15am~ I was really happy and glad to be able to listen the Shinjuku jingle, it is my favorite one so far.

These tones generally intend to relax or alert people, depending on the situation. It’s tricky to alert people and not sound ignorable or the intent misinterpreted. Japan nails this. We need national railways to be the norm here in the US.

1:22 uguisidani station. That was the station I caught when I stayed at a unit in uguisidani through Airbnb. Beautiful little suburb close to everything. But Shibuya and Akihabara were my favourite stations/suburbs. Sigh. But I live in crappy Brisbane where our trains are super old and slow, and travel at a snails pace compared to Japan. And nothing is decorated or sounds as beautifully as in Japan. QQ. But thank you for sharing. This was great nostalgia. XD

That's another way memories abound of my two visits to Japan as a kid (9 and 12). We rode these trains a LOT-Mom took 'em to work during the day working for the Japanese equivalent of a chemical information firm she worked at back home, whereas Dad and I took 'em knocking around town, particularly Shibuya and Harajuku. One thing, though: I think you got the Ebisu and Gotanda sounds mixed up, as I clearly remember hearing the Gotanda music at the Ebisu station.

I live in japan and every time I wake up, the only thing stuck in my head is the Tokyo Station jingle!! (That is the closest station to my apartment)
