I can't believe you didn't touch on Japan's innovative approach to enforcing speed limits on roads, Hugbees. In Japan, the police don't have cars, so the nation relies on its strong street racing culture to keep its drivers in line. If you go above the posted speed limit, you are inviting any nearby street racers to challenge you to a race on the spot, as they seek to increase their street cred by besting any potential opponent they come across. Backing down from the challenge or losing a race is a serious blow to your cred, and since only well-established racers have the cred to afford the occasional loss, the average citizen has no choice but to comply with posted speed limits. If your cred drops to 0, your family will have to disown you because of the shame you have brought upon them, unless of course you commit sudoku to redeem yourself, which can be difficult considering how big Japanese sudoku books usually are.

I'm happy to see some great documentaries like this, really puts in to perspective how Japanese animated shows over-glamourize their lifestyles and make everything seem so amazing all the time.
@jasonkeith2832
@jasonkeith2832 2 жыл бұрын
That typically depends on what demographic of Japanese people they are showing. They do over-glamourize the lives of those who live outside the large cities, but most media portraying the lives of anyone who lives in those cities typically show us characters who typically have very sad and depressing lives, and/or are alcoholics who spend their nights binge-drinking with friends to try and "enjoy" the time they have away from work.

Me ten minutes before thinking this was a legit source for my history essay, and still I'm not disappointed. I was taking notes of the video, and I was planing to quote it until I realized that not all Japanese workers have the same pipi length. Thank you for the non-informative video, still very fun to watch.

1:30 "Some viewers may say that this footage is uncomfortable to look at, but those comments will be ignored. Because this footage showcases what those viewers lack; a loving family" WAAAAAAAOOOOOOOO, what a way to throw shade and roast half of Twitter, most of Reddit, and a quarter of KZfaq, especially the commentary community as a passing joke. Kudos to you

Funny thing: the blind loyalty joke at 3:00 isn't too far off. Japan's debt to GDP ratio is like 250%, but their people keep buying bonds from their government blindly.
