I could watch this all day. It is fascinating to watch as each cut reveals more of the beauty that took many years to create. Absolutly beautiful. I was a machanic my entire life but worked with wood as my hobby. I am no longer able to work due to recovering from BEATING lung cancer. I spent the last 4 yrs creating a small woodcraft shop in back and spend most of my time there making small wood ornaments which I sell at craft shows. It doesn't make me rich but does keep me occupied. I've worked too many years to sit back and watch the world go by, lol.....

james moore - keep fighting sir. I’m currently fighting this shit disease myself. What treatment was you taking?
@jamesmoore33464 жыл бұрын
@@sea78x I had 16 series of chemo, the chemicals used were manitol, taxal, carbo platin and cis platin. My routine was radiation at 7:30 each morning and then go from there to infusion for 8 to 9 hours. Normal dosage would be 500ml of one and 1000ml of another. I am currently cancer free but the whole combined process beat me up pertty bad. Went into a coma half way through chemo, spent 8 days in ICU. I'm very thankful as the doctor had told me 'I give you about 90 days', that was 5yrs4months ago. Still not 100%, closer to 70-75% but I promised my wife "No retreat, no surrender'. I really would like to be able to go back to my job, really enjoyed the challenges it offered but at this time my body says no, lol...mine was stage 3 lung cancer, what type are you fighting if you don't mind me asking. I tell everyone to pray for all who are fighting, met a lot of good people. I've seen too many people suffer. It is a rough thing. I pray you beat it!!!

james moore - damn bro, that sounds brutal. I was diagnosed at stage 4. I was given 12 months to live (18 months ago) with a 7cm Tumor in my right lung + spread to my lymph nodes and kidney. I’m on round 27 of immunotherapy and I’m taking copious amounts of RSO cannabis oil. My last scan showed all 3 cancers are now just scars but they found a small one that was hiding (which is also shrinking away) I too promised my wife and my 6 year old son that I’d never give up and I sensed that same strength in your comment. Keep kickin ass my friend x

I removed a camphor tree last year. The smell was so strong, my sinuses burned for 2 days. The client wanted to keep the wood for firewood, I did a little homework and found out it's not good to burn. Possibly poisonous in some cases. I then chipped the wood into mulch. It was so beautiful that I wanted to keep a piece for Woodturning, but I could no loner stand the smell.

I found a 6" civil war cannon ball stuck into the side of a huge White Oak about 20' up from the ground, that a very hard freeze brought close enough to the surface to see and remove a few years back. Last fall, cutting down another large oak, hit a lead musketball w my chainsaw. Cut right through it, but saw the 2 halves when pulled the sections apart. There were several battles fought directly on and around my property. Found a second cannon ball the same year underneath a stand of old growth oaks. Probably purged from another tree. A severely hard freeze pushes rocks from the ground much more so than mild freezes do as well.

@stevehines75204 жыл бұрын
Cut a maple log with a crotch, on my mill this last fall,. Just grazed a stone the size of a small fist. The stone had been placed in the crotch when the tree was young. The tree completely grew around it with no big bark pockets. I was able to flip the log over and cut up to the stone from the opposite side. This left me with a 4 3/4 inch slab. It is curing and the stone is set so firmly in solid wood that it can be almost completely daylighted without removing the stone.. It is going to make a unique piece. Now the problem of deciding what it was meant to be so that its uniqueness is not diminished. Hope when that happens that I am able to share with others.

White oak and black locust are primary woods used in wooden boatbuilding here in New England. White oak for frame members and planking. Black locust for fames and trunnels.
