【Matsunoyama Onsen Miyoshi-ya】
Matsunoyama Onsen is a quiet hot spring resort nestled in the mountains of Tokamachi City, Niigata Prefecture. It is said to have opened 700 years ago.
Matsunoyama Onsen is a unique hot spring with a salty, oily, medicinal aroma. Because of the quality of the spring, it is considered one of the three most medicinal hot springs in Japan, along with Kusatsu Onsen and Arima Onsen.
Miyoshiya is the only bathhouse in Matsunoyama where you can cook your own meals, and the two bathhouses can be reserved for private use, allowing you to enjoy Matsunoyama’s hot spring water to the fullest. The inside of the building is very clean and is recommended for first-time visitors to Ryokans for “TO-JI”.

・What is "TO-JI"?
Onsen have been used to treat illness and injury. A prolonged stay in Onsen for medical treatment is called a "TO-JI" (therapeutic hot spring cure). Ryokans for TO-JI, with their old architecture, inexpensive accommodations, and self-catering facilities, are unique from ordinary Onsen Ryokans and remain in many parts of Japan to this day.
