This time, Live+Journal @travjournal goes to Hida-Takayama or Takayama in Gifu Prefecture! Nestled by the Hida Mountains, Takayama is considered as the Little Kyoto of the Japanese Alps. This charming city with its preserved Edo-period district aka Old Town is reminiscent of life and architecture hundreds of years ago. Here, you can visit several souvenir shops and streetfood that this region is known for!
We went on a short visit to the MIyagawa River in the center of town and checked out the Nakabashi, aka the Red Bridge. Afterwards, we had Hida beef for dinner and capped off our day with a soak in the hotel's outdoor onsen (after doing the laundry, of course!)
As usual, we are featuring our travel from Nagiso to Nagoya and then on to Takayama. It's pretty much the point of travel, you know -- mobility.
