I never liked smart dolls. Everyone always talks about how they love them and wish they could have them, but honestly I see no personality or life in their faces. Just my opinion.

When I go to Japan, I will definitely go to the Mirai store. Hopefully be able to do a workshop. If you got one would you customise the face or leave as is and Why?

Can someone tell me what's so special about smart dolls compared to other bjds? I've tried to find out through other videos and the website but it's unclear to me. Is it because they have a skeleton rather than using string like other bjds? Thank you to anyone who can explain. I've always loved the look of smart dolls :) and am considering getting one!

Well, he's planning on releasing a robotic version "soon", but the only difference really is that they're designed to have similar proportions to a normal (read: model) human so that designers can uh... make prototypes of clothes for us but on them. Which makes no sense at all to me because creating clothing for dolls is completely different than creating them for humans - but that part probably isn't meant to be taken seriously. Other than that, you can also customise the skin colour and bust size and they have the skeleton. But do note that other BJD ateliers can customise skin colour and bust size and some of them use skeleton frames instead of elastic as well. Until the robotic version comes out, the smart dolls are just average dolls. So maybe just wait and save up until those come out?

You should have bought the Workshop Mirai and put her together while you were there! It's like $300 USD cheaper than a Mirai that's pre-assembled. Plus there's a discount too. I wish I could go to Japan to do exactly that!

I have Ruby who was released in June 2018. 😊 I also am interested in Felicity or Kanata but right now a few outfits are on my mind. The cost of Shipping to the US was very reasonable. I also asked for Insurance and Tracking.

I want a Kai as my first Smart Doll. I have always collected more guy dolls over the ladies and Kai has a great face and skintone. Vinyl dolls are so much lighter than resin, which makes Kai even more attractive to me. My poor health affects the amount of weight I can carry for long periods of time so my big resin guys no longer get to go to meetups or cons because their weight actually hurts me when I carry them, even in a strap-on baby carrier. I hope you can get your Smart Doll soon!
