as far as i i know, mens kimonos typically have a little space inside the sleeve that can be used as a pocket

Thank you for your comment! Now that I think of it that way, It most likely was 笑止 and I just interpreted it incorrectly as 焼死

@@Frantor1 Yes, this is a difficult aspect or trouble of japanese, same pronunciation and different meaning. But in this case, we can distinguish between 焼死 and 笑止 by their accents. 焼死 shoshi is flat accent, 笑止 show-shi has primary stress at its head "show".
