JAPANESE DEER SCARER { SHISHI ODOSHI }

A bamboo water feature incorporating a Japanese Deer Scarer - we had to make a coiled rope mat to muffle the sound down a bit as the "nodding donkey" hit the stones - the raised bed contains a two-foot diameter tub containing the pump to cycle the water and the whole thing produces a very soothing and relaxing sound - we sprayed some of the pebbles gold and its a nice contrast that some of them are dry and some are wet - we sprayed some small sppotlights gold to match and as you can see it looks great at night

Very interesting build, I like the features and needed inspiration for my own "Odishi" I am building a zen garden in my front flower bed and this is going to be an important feature with it so I am excited to see how this works

glad I could be of help if you do similar to me it's worth lining the bamboo with some kind of sealant that you would put on the roof or fibreglass as they tend to expand and contract and you will get leaks

Hi, this is awesome. Could you give me measurements on the fill tube, the total length of it and how far from the end you drilled the hole for the dowel that goes through it?

Hi diameter of hole 12cm, Length 64cm hole for dowel 33cm. Hope that helps good luck and sent photo when your finished cheers Paula.

Just bought bamboo poles and then cut out the holes recommend you put plastic liner or fibreglass inside as it will expand and contract with the weather and crack
