As a resident of Japan, I was relieved to hear those guys live in Okinawa, they get upset so easily. Your tarantulas are teddy bears in comparison... and I think almost all of the tarantulas I've seen are prettier. Don't get me wrong, these Japanese Funnelwebs are fascinating spiders, but you can tell they evolved in a real rat race environment because they are triggered so easily.

When I. was keeping spiders and other inverts, I used to drill a little hole above the water dish and used a 60cc syringe with a very narrow piece of tubing on it to fill the water dish through the hole. Used to be very quick as I used to have to water pretty often due to the heat here.

Definitely not the spider for me! WAY to easily aggressive, and FAR too fast for my already fast-beating heart....(no, I don't like spiders, but this channel is fab as a form of therapy. Learn something about them, and they don't seem so scary anymore, and looking at them close-up also helps. Could never do that before. Just close-up video would freak me out. Now, I find it fascinating - but don't like the fast movers yet!

I've said before how I come around on my spider fears when you saved the tarantula (again thanks for that), but funnel webs were my real nightmares. Probably watched to many Australian shows! 😅 I imagined peacefully walking around and a trap door opening, dual fangs ending my life, lol. Your love for spiders is a game changer and I will never look at spiders the same way. Already before this I've managed to not kill a spider in many years. Have a bit of an ant problem in my house (and flies as usual, composting and all) and the spiders keep them in check, so when I see a spider in the bathroom I just think "go and get them!".

These Japanese funnel webs 🕸, are different looking. Sydney funnel doesn't have the blood red fangs and it's botty is solid black. We have two different types of funnel webs the Sydney Funnel-web Spider (Atrax robustus) and the Southern Tree-dwelling Funnel-web Spider (Hadronyche cerberea). But they are a defensive spider Sydney's are but will stand their ground. Aspecially at mating time, when the males are out roaming looking for a girlfriend. Is when the most bites happen. How these Japanese funnel webs are behaving is exactly the same is how our funnel webs spiders behave.

I used to touch its web with a stick and the spider attacked, i don't know if they were funnel webs or not but they looked exactly like the ones in the video, only one little difference their size was between 1 and 1,5 cm.
