It's funny how a lot of cultures think the other culture is cool. How some Japanese speakers think english is cool but at the same time some English speakers think Japanese is cool.

One interesting loan word to English is aardvark which comes from the Dutch and is literally ground pig. However in Japanese it became Tsuchi buta or 土豚. That said when traveling to Hawaii I made sure my son man and woman and sometimes bad English from a native Japanese speaker makes really good Dutch.

When we visited Japan, we stayed in Tokyo 1 night, Hakuba 4 nights and then again in Tokyo for a final night. Although I did learn japanese more in depth, it wasn't necessary. We also used the JR pass which was amazing!!!!! And we got a wifi box that we received/ mailed back right at the airport. Avoid taxi because they are super expensive.

There really isn't a need for an inferiority complex, everyone knows English isn't the native language of Japan, and any foreigner in Japan won't expect you to speak it perfectly, most native English speakers don't speak it properly themselves. Any English you speak would be welcomed from a foreigner in need of assistance, no matter how bad it is. If a foreigner corrects your English, they aren't trying to put you down for trying or make you feel bad, they're trying to help you learn English better, as most foreigners are very direct, it may come off as they're trying to make you feel bad for not speaking English perfectly, but they really aren't. If they're not in a hurry, most would more than likely enjoy having a conversation with you in English to help you practice, speaking it is the only way to really learn it, and remember, if they correct you, it's to help you learn it better, not to criticize you. If you really want to learn to SPEAK English, you actually have to SPEAK it, reading or hearing it doesn't do much for getting pronunciations down.

This is like what I watch music video about Japanlish, the word that Japanese people use similar with English like toilet become toileto, starbucks become starbakusu. I think foreigner do not think to worry ask people on Japan, especially when they go to big city like Tokyo. Because so many store, restaurant, etc have English☺️. And don't forget to install dictionary on your phone it will help you a lot. But of course, ask Japanese people with sentences as short as you can because dictionary sometimes not correct to translate long sentences😁

Konbanwa I have a question:Do u have any advise on learning japanese? Hiragana and Katakana at the same time and then learning some kanji or which order can u recomend?
@originalm32333 жыл бұрын
Hiragana is most important because it can help you pronounce Japanese words. Katakana is just used to write foreign/non-Japanese words and wasei-eigo. Try to learn both at the same time to get it over with. Don't deal with Kanji until you can write and read Hiragana.

I don't mean to sound rude, but I see loads of Japanese people with like overlapping teeth. Is this a common trait? It's really cute though by the way!
@Subjectivity133 жыл бұрын
Exactly! Crooked teeth are considered cute in Japan, plus it's very expensive to get them fixed, so most people don't bother.
