Kecleon makes sense in English. The “leon” part is from it being a chameleon. It ties into “hide” because it can turn invisible and hides a lot. In the very same game, you have to use the DevonScope to force several wild Kecleon out of hiding.

What I love most about this nuzlocke is that Jaden inadvertently EV trained HP on ZipZapZop by killing all those Marill as when you KO Marill, it gives EV for HP. With the number that Jaden killed ZipZapZop had a decent chance of tanking the hit. A huge amount of luck and unintentional grinding went into surviving that hit and I love it.

In terms of language, both names make sense. Since Kakureon literally means "Hide" in Japan--as you stated with subtitles--playing off on its Chameleon-like design (since you know Chameleon's camouflage themselves.) The English name, Kecleon does the same thing, but the connection more obvious for English consumers.

Many english Pokemon names are what are called Portmanteaus, which are two words put together. Just a few examples, Treeko (tree + Gecko) Whismur (Whisper + Murmur) Zigzagoon (Zigzag Racoon). With that being said, 11:35 i think Kekleon is just a play on the word Chameleon rather then being a portmanteau.

I will say, Kecleon might not mean anything in particular in fnglish, but the neglish name of the real world lizard it's based on is chameleon, so they both have "leon" in their name and that made sense to me when I was a kid. It's cool to find out the source of it's Japanese name though.
