The parrot fish is legal to harvest in Hawaii, too. I've tried it. But the meat is somewhat bland, tough, and not as savory as those red fish snappers in the ice next to the parrot fish. If it was up to me the parrot fish would be left alone. One, it's not tasty to eat. Two, the parrot fish has been responsible for x millions of years creating all that beautiful white sand on numerous beaches throughout the Pacific. The parrot fish eat coral and excrete new, clean sand which washes up on to beaches, increasing it.

Stop eating these fish! They spend 90% of their day eating algae and dead coral. They clean our reefs. This makes them an important part of our ecosystem. Most of the reefs across the tropics are full of algae due to overfishing of the parrot fish and other herbivores. The parrot fish also poops up to 700 pounds of fine white sand annually. Their existence is essential. Educate your friends and family to raise awareness. Say no to catching parrot fishes. Don't purchase them from the markets. Avoid eating them.

This is a beautiful adult Cetoscarus bicolor, a species of the parrotfish. They are named as parrotfish because of their fused dentition, just like the beak of a parrots. These fishes should be protected because they contribute to the maintenance of reefs.

Those men were professionals. Did you see how piece of sashimi was exactly the same width and how fast he sliced the pieces. The wasabi leaf was cute. I like the sea grapes too. I really wanted to taste it. It looked delicious. Oh, and the puffer fish! I did have some, fugu. Mine was breaded and deep fried on a stick. I did have some hallucination and my mouth went numb. Interesting.

seriously, this is art. "brutal" is when you lock up an animal since birth, feed it tons of crap and hormones while it lives on less space than the bed in your room until it is murdered by a machine, then ground up into burger patties. this on the other hand is food made with care and craftmanship, i think it's quite beautiful to watch actually.

+Island Mike You're right. Some species are considered pests. +Jasmine H Parrotfish need a living reef system if you're going to keep them as a pet. The tank can't be smaller than 90 gallons for most species and they're considered difficult to keep, like Moorish Idols and Copper Butterflies. They eat coral, so keeping them in living coral gets pricey and the aftermath is... unexpected. They literally crap sand. Be prepared.

El Cucuy i keep those kind of fish for years, and eat fish food they are only eat coral with algae = dead coral or live rock w/ coraline algae. sps and lps are safe.
