Yakisoba is an amazing teppanyaki food experience that you must try in Japan, especially in the countryside. The Hiruzen area of Okayama is famous for it! Yakisoba is fried up buckwheat noodles in a savory soy sauce MAP: Yamana (restaurant)

I get the lady. There are so many food bloggers out there just wanting a pretty shot and a taste test, then leave 90% of the food on the table unfinished. At least keep it as take-out, someone put in effort to grow and prepare all those ingredients, only gets worse when animal products are involved. If you just want to try, ask for smaller portions, everything's better than food waste

Dean? I thought I recognized you and your name! You're friends with my friend Eri in Japan and you both went to Tohoku after 3/11. Good to see that you are still in Japan, loving Japan and didn't know you too had a KZfaq channel so I just hit subscribe 😉 Both you and John are great together ❤

I am so thankful a new place here in the states where I live now opened that serves more traditional Yakisoba dishes... It's my new favorite Japanese style place and has many more traditional toppings that you might find in Japan!!!

In my humble opinion and experience small restaurants or hole in the wall places like these are the best places to eat in Japan. They're ran by families who care and with heart. I was told once by an owner of these type restaurants once and he said "if I were cooking for my patrons, I would want make it like I was cooking for my family". That hit me so hard emotionally, there was a sense of "The Naruhodo Factor" and a total appreciation in these places. Also, got it marked on my Google maps for my bucket list.

I would love to visit the Daisen area. The Tabi Eats guys filmed there about a month ago and now these videos intrigue me even more. It's even better with Dean in the videos.

Yakisoba is not generally buckwheat noodles. Soba means “noodles” as well as “buckwheat noodles”.

Too bad I can taste what you guys were eating. My food seemed pathetic compared to yours. I have to add that the type of trip you were talking at the end of the video is what I'm interested in. Hopefully one day it will come true.
