Thank you! This design of the Koetsuji fence has been around for hundreds of years. However, it is so sophisticated that it does not look out of place even today. I felt that we should preserve this design and the skills to make it.

There is a beautiful balance of 'masculine' and 'feminine' elements in this garden! The squares and rectangles of the paving with right-angled corners and the flowing shapes of the roof tiles and the koetsu-ji gaki! Wonderful harmonious vibe and stunning work!

That's exactly what it is! The contrast between the straight lines of the Kenninji fence and cedar and the curved lines of this Koetsuji fence is really beautiful. They really bring out the best in each other.

The details of the fence construction are easily appreciated in your great video of closeups and overall shots. Thanks! The continuous curves of the fence through three dimensions adds so much visual energy to the scene. The size contrast of the very large top rail and the small elements of the fabric of the fence make it even more attractive. A work of art!

Wow! This is probably the most impressive thing I've seen on your channel! The amount of work and detail is amazing; it blows my mind how they lined up all the strips of bamboo to cover the plastic pipe! It looks like a really thick bamboo stalk! These guys are true craftsmen! By the way, thank you so much for showing where they got the bamboo, I've always been interested in that part of the process! Please show details like this any chance you get, for example, I would like to see where they get stone for their projects. By the way, I want to try the bamboo splitter, it looks like fun!

Привет из России. Замечательный материал,этот бамбук, пластичный экологичный, незаменим в саду. Жаль в нашем климате он не может расти. Подобие ему -наша ива,не так договечна,но тоже вносит свою красоту в садовый дизайн. Не много мастеров осталось, кто понимает как с ней работать. Здоровья и сил Вам в работах.

The skill and patience this project demands is incredible and it’s exactly what this team brings with each and every step. Cutting that bamboo into those thin strips, then keeping them numbered and together. WoW! Making sure each strip was meticulously pushed and pulled to be precisely lined up. Strong work everyone.

I forgot to inquire about the bamboo. Will the bamboo have to be treated throughout the year to protect it from the elements?

Thank you! It turned out to be a really great bamboo fence. This bamboo fence is filled with the design of this ancient Kouetsuji fence and the skills of the craftsmen who made it. Bamboo is exposed to rain and wind, so it will gradually weather. There is no particular protection. I think the key to enjoying this garden is to enjoy the process of weathering. wabisabi
