JAPANS VLOGS - Checking into Tokyo Disneyland's Celebration Hotel. WHAT NOT TO DO!!!

Күн бұрынWelcome to aclaireytale and this new series of JAPAN VLOGS!!! Join me every Wednesday 5pm for a new Japan vlog. I film every day from our trip in September 2019 showing you Kyoto, Tokyo, Shinjuku, Shibuya, Mount Fuji, Tokyo Disneyland, Tokyo DisneySea. Hope you enjoy!!
I start off this vlog outside Shinjuku station as we head to Tokyo Disneyland!!! I show the journey and how to get to Tokyo Disney from Shinjuku. I did a lot of research for this trip but I did not research Disney as I did not want to spoil anything for myself - that was were I went wrong! We continue to make mistakes in this video so I hope you can learn from them!!! Tokyo Disneyland Tips!!!
We check into Tokyo Disneyland's Celebration Hotel. We were in the Wish building and it was absolutely beautiful!! I show you around the hotel, give you a room tour and then talk through a few park plans for the next morning. I film the next morning moving to Hilton Tokyo Bay Hotel. Hope you enjoy! Our first day in the parks next week!!!!

Even though you wish you'd handled your first night differently, I really enjoyed seeing the Celebration hotel. I can't wait for your next video!! I have seen a few vlogs of Tokyo Disneyland but I know yours will be better and my favorite!!

Oh, Claire. You made me sob when you played "When you Wish Upon a Star". and showed the mural. Thank you. That is my favorite song. I cannot believe how different Disneyland area is. When I was there in 1984, no hotels, bare minimum transportation and very small actual Disneyland. The covered Bazaar was there. I'll have to locate my map from then. Sorry if I repeat myself. Brings back so many memories. I was 25 when I went there and now I'm 61. LOL. Thank you both. Diane

Thank you for sharing with us what you learned about the transportation and where you should have stayed. I am sorry you had to miss out of time at DL on your first day. OMG that mural...the ceiling...the lobby...wauw!!! But it is such a shame it's so far from the parks and you only get those 15 minutes... what a rip off! But now you know for a next time ;-) Can't wait for the next one! xx

Yeah haha, the Disneyland Park hotel is on property and Mira Costa this was just a little too far out that it became a bit of a logistical nightmare! I regret not reading up on these things but I'm so glad I did see that room cos yes that mural made me so happy!!! Hope you will like the next one!

@@aclaireytale Oh I'm 100% sure I will love the next one :) Yeah, that mural and the ceiling lights...made up for it, right?! :) But I agree, it's better for just a 1 night stay if you really want to see this hotel, because it's so beautiful...such a shame it's so far away :(

Started to watch this as you posted it but only got to you arriving at the hotel before the grandchildren were called for their dinner. I told Isabelle to watch you in her bedroom when she got home and I watched it all this morning and despite the problems with the Japanese signage the hotel lobby was well worth the slight stress caused. What a lovely Disney hotel. Great Instagram wall in your bedroom. You have learned regarding which hotel to book for your next trip. Loved the Mickey ears grab handles on the monorail. Isabelle will be happy you finally hit Disney next week. Already looking forward to it.

The teacups in reception, I want them in my lounge!!! 😄 The wall art in your room was wonderful and I’d love a starry ceiling like that in my bedroom. I just love Japan more and more each week! We ran into the same problem with the Disney’s Celebration Hotel. We booked five nights at Disney’s Ambassador Hotel then two nights at Disney’s Celebration Hotel. We felt we wasted half a park day switching hotels. The Disney’s Ambassador Hotel is next to their Downtown Disney area and super convenient to the parks! We’ve stayed at the Hilton Tokyo Bay twice. We love staying there SO convenient but cheaper than the Disney hotels close by. We’ve also stayed at the Disneyland hotel this past December. It’s a definite splurge but totally worth it! Anyways, we live in Japan hence all the TDR trips ✨😂 I’m loving your vlogs! You are such a sweet person.

That Disney hotel looked really nice! Crazy that it was a half hour away from the parks! But still can't beat Disney! :) the Hilton looks really nice as well! Cant wait for next week! So excited to explore Tokyo Disneyland with you guys! :)

Bummer on missing out on that time in the park, but on the plus side that hotel looked amazing! That has to be the neatest hotel lobby I've ever seen. That is a really good price for a 4 day ticket, it's so much cheaper than WDW! Looking forward to seeing your adventures in the parks, and thanks for sharing as always!

Ah you're so right, I'm glad we did see the hotel room. That mural was insane and a definitely highlight! It was all just a bit of a logistical nightmare checking in n out and suitcases and transfers etc. Oh my gosh right? The tickets there are so cheap!!! So much cheaper that WDW. We did the same thing, didn't want to do to much research about Disney. We ended up in the same area as you but further back . Took awhile to get to the parks. We loved the place we stayed in but next time we will try and and stay closer. We were going back this year but we decided on Los Angeles because of galaxy edge. Love your videos.

Hey Claire. Yay we got to see some Disney stuff. The Cheshire Topiary was so cool. It did look like the Electrical parade. Such a bummer the Disney resort is so far from the park. That really makes no sense. They need to rethink that. The Hilton looks nice. Look forward to your next Vlog at the park. -Ali 🎀🏰💖

Great video! Just for future reference, the free shuttle buses leave from the bus depot located directly across from Tokyo Disneyland . ( The area between the Park gates and the monorail station to be more specific) We’ve stayed at both Wish and Discover and I personally prefer Wish. The decor is more beautiful , and you get dropped off first in the way back from the parks

Yeah haha we know now but when you are arriving at Maihama station with suitcases this isn't made clear at all. I should have done more research that's for sure!!! The hotel that my family and I stayed at in Disneyworld Florida (at the time we went there in December 2005) was a Hilton and that was so big, and also it had a Japanese sushi restaurant on property which we ate there for lunch on the day that we checked out and left to spend the rest of the trip at my Nana's holiday home out there

Good info about not staying at disney, it's so expensive compared to the other hotels right around there. I would be interested in a video about the weather while you were in Japan, we're going the end of Aug - beginning of sept this year and would like a first hand account of the heat and general weather conditions.

Ah so I only meant not staying at this particular hotel for one night and move to another because you've got to think about check in n out times, suitcases and transfers etc and this hotel wasn't on property, it was miles out unfortunately. The hotel was absolutely gorgeous though that mural was worth it all! If I could redo I would either spend the whole time at a Disney hotel that's on property or Hilton Tokyo Bay as that hotel really was stunning. The weather was great for us, we went in September so it was rainy season but it actually only rained this one night. We were very lucky! Thank you for watching!

My friend and I had the same issue when we visited in December. We didn’t know how to get from the train station to the celebration hotel. At least the bus driver let you on! We eventually found where to go, but it was a struggle!

aclaireytale that was the very first thing I brought up when I was sent a survey from the hotel! lol hopefully they’ll take it in to consideration! We loved the decor of the hotel, and although not as close to the parks, it was an easy shuttle bus ride to and from!

We wanted to use the perks you get from staying at a Disney hotel like early access etc and we wanted to see what the Disney hotel was like :) I'm glad we did it and saw it but I think in the future hotel hopping isn't the best idea!!

Wow - what a learning curve.... you have helped me so much....their transportation system is a little confusing but mostly in English right ? the Disney bus and the #25 bus situation.... at some point could you talk more about that.... Again , a wonderful job on the vlog !!!

I will do a little round up when I've finished but I can explain what I meant in the vlog for you, so we were at Maihama station and we got that public bus because we walked up and down trying to find the Celebration hotel bus and just couldn't see it. We found out later that it doesn't go to the station, the bus leaves from the park! Which is still a bit odd to me because we would have had to have walked all the way to the park with our suitcases when most people who come to Tokyo Disneyland will arrive at Maihama Station. Oh well, we all make mistakes haha. Hope that all makes sense. And no nothing was in English, there were no signs when we got there for it at all. Thank you so much I'm so glad you enjoyed the vlog!

Hi Andrea, yeah I mention it first in one of the Tokyo vlogs, I show how to buy it at a machine I'll have a double check on the exact one but yeah so it's the Suica Card it's basically an Oyster Card for non JR lines on the Tokyo Metro. Oh wow that you saw a rocket launch! Hope you're having a lovely time out there.

Haha well it wasn't the right bus in the end! It was a local bus to the right place but the Disney bus you have to go to the park to pick up which just sounds so strange to me when people are travelling to the station! But oh well haha. Yes that's right! He's so talented! Yeah there's a charge going back and forth on the Disney monorails so park hopping can really hike up the price! You're right ha, I just should have done more research on the Disney hotels! At least we know if there is ever a next time! It was a lovely climate, we had excellent weather we were very lucky!!! We booked it through hotels.com I believe. I'm not 100% sure of the price, I'm getting Simon to check back in his emails for the prices of everything as I might do a costings video in a few weeks

What time of night did you do the transfer over? Did you cancel the hotel and rebook hilton? Were booked in to the hilton as the disney ones just didnt seem good value... you know cos id want to stay at mira Costa lol

Oh we didn't transfer over in the middle of the night, sorry if it looked that way. It was the next morning when I filmed the next clip, not in the middle of the night. We were always going to spend one night at the Disney hotel, get the perks of the 15mins and see all the lovely Disney things then go to the park the next morning come back to the hotel that night and transfer our stuff to Hilton Tokyo Bay for the remaining 4 nights. But logistically it was all a big mistake. You never think about moving your stuff and timings of checking in n out and transfers. This hotel isn't on property like Mira Costa so it was all a logistical nightmare haha. We were dead beat from our hectic trip so far that we just couldn't get up at 5am when we didn't get to sleep til midnight. I'm still glad we saw the mural but 5 nights at Hilton Tokyo Bay would have saved a lot of time and hassle!

Here we go!!!! I love their vending machines. Google Goggles app, I believe, translates using your camera. How awesome would it be to have one of those Dumbos in your clear coffee table. Those topiaries look like Main Street Electrical Parade floats. That song you played for walking down the hallway sounded like a knock-off Moonlight Serenade (Which is my wife and my song) Donald flavored water Are they actually crushed American pennies? It must have been dissorienting, being a Disney afficienado, not knowing exactly what to do. It makes me appreciate how first timers feel when they come to WDW. Did you lose any money switching hotels? I heard Epcot music as you were headed to the monorail. Shame on the disliker. With your mistakes, this video will help so many people.

Oh that sounds like it would have been a useful app! Oh my gosh Eric you're so right about the Dumbo in my coffee table, hadn't even thought of that! It would be perfect haha you know us well. Yeah haha I was going for 1920s Hollywood Tower theming. No it was Japanese coins we put in but they just had a standard copper piece that they pressed. You hit the nail on the head about being disorientated. It's so difficult when you know WDW like the back of your hand, every nook and cranny and then go somewhere completely new and different. And I didn't watch any Tokyo Disney vlog and I realise now I should have!!! Switch hotels? Ah ok I mustn't have explained properly. So we were always going to be staying at the Disney hotel for one night and then head to Hilton Tokyo Bay for 4 nights. It was all such an effort though that I wish we'd just booked Hilton for 5 nights. You always forget about the logistics of moving suitcases and checking in n out of places when you're planning! I'm still glad I saw that mural!! Haha thanks for what you say about the Dislikers ;)

No we got the 4 day pass so couldn't park hop for the first two days but that was fine by us :)

How concerned is everyone about the Corona virus? I have a trip scheduled next week to Japan but an a little concerned if I should cancel

I really wouldn't panic. I think Corona virus is mainly a problem like all things if you are an infant, elderly or have other medical conditions. I would still go!

We’re booked to go in a month. I’m not too concerned. Seems like there is currently just as much risk catching it where I live (uk). Have a great trip!

actually good timing for visiting. less people, no flu. if you aren't 80, definitely safer than U.S..
