still one of my favorite characters!

The fact that ADWD starts with Pate/Jaqen and ends with him meeting Sam has left me with my most burning desire for answers about this intriguing character. Well yes, The Isle of Faces, Horn of Winter, Euron's Horn, and so many other complicated goings on makes me thirst for at least TWOW before my old eyes totally give out, but the opening and endings bars of a great symphony is what replays in my head! It is really weird, I know but The Rains of Castemere remind me so much of the 2nd movement of Bach's D minor double violin concerto. The only thing they really have in common is the pathos until Djawadi incorporated it into a bevy of themes, changing time signatures and keys at Cersei's coronation. There Djawadi really shows his mastery of music composition.

I love when narrating there’s only ambient/very slow bpm and not much melody. In between the narrations using a piece with more melody and/or expression only makes things stronger and it’s easier to ”get inside” the video. It creates the immersion, which is always welcome. 👍🏼🫱🏽‍🫲🏼

George R R Martin is a great writer just to enthral so many with his stories, to have talentless show runners to soil them, to have so many waiting for the next installment and ultimately have so much nerd conjecture circulate for so long. It is still interesting but, I think the reason is that he gave his basic outline to the show runners and he hated the reception that the ending got for GOT & is scrambling to rewrite it in a more satisfactory way for the loyal readers. Just my opinion but, it seems the logical & more reasonable conclusion for the information we have at this point. Not looking for debate just stating what seems obvious to me...... key words are " to me"

I didn't take to this character when I read the books. Until dance, when he became more intriguing. But I had actually completely forgot about him til the show reminded me. But he's quite mysterious still. I think he's gunna come out of nowhere, once I've forgot him again, & really surprise me lol. He definitely made me realize how really clever Arya actually is, esp for her age. This little girl taking this mysterious con artist, master of deception, disguise, & manipulation by surprise, tricking & manipulating him more than once, even impressing him.

GRR Martin did say he would use a time skip. This theory just peaked in my brain.

You guys always mention his hair, which is valid, but I think this is just to show him as a "Tool of the Gods". It's a weirwood colors, red leaves and a white trunk, and when Arya was praying to her gods, Jaqen immediately appeared before her and she thought he looked like a weirwood tree because of his hair. Perhaps the gods sent him to help her. That's all. He then transforms into an alchemist and tells Pate that he is a "Stranger". Again, the face of the Many-Faced God. I think this was done just to show him as one of the faceless men and that he acts on behalf of his own God... perhaps?? Really like the secret Targaryen theory btw haha!

Personally I kinda like the theory of Jaquan H’gar being Rhaegar… It makes sense that he likes Arya bc she is said to look like Lyanna & resemble her in spirit/behavior. This would mean Jaqen sees some of the lady he loved in Arya (plus she’s the daughter of Ned - who saved & raised his son). Also, in the books Jon is supposedly in love w Arya too (which is ironic)… I mean if Gregor Clegane, Jon Snow, and others can escape death, then it seems Rhaegar can. Plus nobody specifically “saw” Rhaegar die nor did anybody see his dead body… Besides Rhaegar’s story seems kind of incomplete. Clearly Rhaegar would need to be nobody… It would make sense in his going to Oldtown as Rhaegar was very bookish & interested in prophecies. Having red hair with a streak of Targaryen silver too… Then we have the (f)Aegon w died hair, plus Daemon II Blackfyre who died his hair, and Egg (aka Aegon V) who shaved his hair… Plus we have other stories about characters disguised such as Bael the Bard & then Mance Rayder too… Would seem the tv show went in another direction bc of the delays in writings from GRRM, and many other factors. For the tv series to delve into Rhaegar would mean multiple seasons more… However, it would make more sense for the book series.

I am now interested and addicted to your theory which some i agree to disagree, and some disagree to agree. Great job, you haven't talked much about the true God, Red God.

If Jaqen was Rhaegar his hair would be Red/black… a dead giveaway. Darkstar is Black/White for Dayne/Reyne, Lady Dustin is Brown/grey for Ryswell/Stark, and Jaqen is Targaryen/Stark.

Jaqen IS the egg Euron sold to the Faceless Men. It’s why Arya gets warned about pirates near there, as a clue. Lorath is mentioned twice (according to the wiki, three according to me). Jaqen’s “homeland”, where to hide a baby (by Jon), and Lorathi traders (not in wiki) in a bar (with Ayra, I think?). Jaqen has the same general story as Ayra, hence why he helps her. She needs to be hidden, trained to hide, and fight like he was. They both have vengeance lists (that are wrong and misplaced). Ayra, just as Jaqen did, will leave training early for vengeance like Luke Skywalker. Jaqen first kills Robert by poisoning. Cercei thinks Lancel did it, Lancel thought Cercei framed him. Next he confronts Ned with Robert’s and Petyr’s conversation, but Ned is delirious and denies Jaqen’s accusations as he face-changes. Jaqen decides to follow Ned to the wall to confront him healthier, but Joffery ends that plan. So after Ayra he heads to Iron Islands to discover a name for the face he can make, Balon confirms it’s Euron. he heads to Oldtown to find Euron, searching for the key Euron will want. Next book, Sam and Jaqen kill fNightking Euron, before Jon’s fate (revived, Sam just knows Jon was killed) is revealed. Afterwards, Pate will face reveal as Jon, confusing Sam how Jon is alive and why he’s in Oldtown before Sam. fJon will be confused and quickly insist to go to Kingslanding (for Aegon or Daenerys, Cercei will retake it before they arrive or maybe they’ll help her men) for men to retake the Wall. Jaqen, who Sam thinks is Jon, disguised as Euron will go to the Wall. fEuron will have Rhaegar’s old armor sans rubys and a flaming sword. Meeting Jon, fEuron will reveal Jon’s face to Jon. How can that be me? Jon asked; because Jon, it wasn’t you, it’s your brother.

I think Jaqen is Rhaegar. Look at all the LOTR and Aragorn imagery in the chapters that Jaqen turns up in.

Good video but you are wrong about one thing. Jaqen only killed 3 men for Arya. If you re read the chapter, during the escape Jaqen kills only one guard, his 3rd kill. Rorge and Biter kill the rest and then free the Northmen who go on killing from there. Jaqen is never seen in the books killing more than one man during the escape.

I never understood why he felt the need to repay the Red God. He shouldn’t follow the Red God if he’s a faceless man, he’d follow the Many Faced God.

Sam won’t find answers, that’s the joke. He will search all “around” Westeros but come up with nothing. Even the secret books the Maesters prize will have nothing. However on the way home, similar to “sun/son” on the show, Gilly will be reading song books or fairytales, books maesters don’t respect or care about, to her son. That will make Sam do the “wait,what?!?!” trope.

Unfortunately, we'll probably never know because Martin will never finish the story...
