Lyrics:
I learned how to fight at a very early age
My brother was a fighter and my uncle all the same
Underneath the old oak tree in the middle of the yard
I shed some blood and tears and I earned my battle scars
He'd fight me 'til my will gave out
And then we'd fight some more
He pushed me way past what I thought was all I could endure
Now looking back I miss the voice of my corner calling out
I hear it in my head when it's filling up with doubts
He said,
"You're a fighter boy
And don't you ever say you're not
You'll fight for what you love until that fighting's all ya got
So keep on fighting boy
Like your life depends on it
Until your bell is rung
You can't ever call it quits
Fighter boy"
My brother went to prison
Came on back and changed his ways
A lover not a fighter for the rest of his long days
But I should've it known it better than
To try and act all tough
He pulled my by shirt and then he snatched me by my scruff
He took his cigarette and as he held to my arm
I screamed and kicked and fought until it all went cold and numb
He said, "You might think you're tough enough
But the world will pull your card
So we will keep on fighting 'til your fists are rough and hard"
He said,
"You're a fighter boy
And don't you ever say you're not
You'll fight for what you love until that fighting's all ya got
So keep on fighting boy
Like your life depends on it
Until your bell is rung
You can't ever call it quits
Fighter boy"
