Jarrod looks at the Pakistan issue in a much wider way, looking at how crickets structure is allowing for nonsense and a lack of growth right across the game. With Pakistan just the latest victim of the broken system.

Meh Pakistan is a victim of geo politics and shitting in their own backyard. I agree with your thesis that a stronger governing body will do well for cricket as a sport, however this Pakistan incident has nothing to do with that. Normally politics wont effect the world of sports, but this has never been true in reality, and unfortunately Pakistan is the odd man out in the political world, and thus their cricket is also paying the price for it. And the days of creating a strong central body was in the 90s before the advent of the 20/20 format. Cricket will not get popular by this way. Players will choose other sports where they get more money and there will be only few good team that will remain as a competitive teams. That argument does not seem to hold any water in case of Bangladesh or Sri Lanka. Cricket is still their most popular sport and they have not noticed any exodus of players to other sports. Great idea but it's really hard to implement as of now. The Big 3 Boards will never agree to let go of their power. BCCI makes far more from selling it to Star Sports then they will from a common pool. But the revenue sharing does make sense and could be implemented within the bilateral aggrements. When Bangladesh tour India, they should be getting some 20%(?) of the revenue BCCI makes.
@adipurush2
@adipurush2 2 жыл бұрын
Then the problem would be that everyone would want to tour India and get their share, but when India tours other countries, our share of that 20% would be small and negligible. Share more and get nothing.
@anomanderrake5434
@anomanderrake5434 2 жыл бұрын
@@adipurush2 but BCCI is only able to make that money because Bangladesh or SL came. Without them there is no series. And some money going there way is not a bad thing. And also Ind will get lot more from touring England or Aus. Since share of 20% from England and AUS will also be higher.
@adipurush2
@adipurush2 2 жыл бұрын

There is a practical problem attached to it like some big cricketing countries generate large revenue than others so when they come under that system they feel like they aren't getting in return as same as other are getting in terms of proportion. Like in India we have more than billion people which means more tv sets more trp more advertising opportunities and the money dynamics will start to come. If we do it in that proportion small boards may find it really difficult to survive! But I think situation related with Pakistan I think it is more to do with Political situation than the contractual things.

In any case, India is still a relatively poor country viz the West -so it's monies should only be used for its development and not for developed countries such as Ireland or Netherland - if the ICC tournaments get max revenue due to India - only fair India get its share Don't agree with your Commie cricket diatribe Jarrod.

Even if there was a league structure, no one would want to tour there under threats of terrorist attacks. Its incredible really that Pakistan is even allowed to play international cricket despite their own politicians including Imran Khan no less calling OBL a martyr, supporting, training and providing safe haven for Taliban and other terrorist orgs.

For comparison I pay around 15$ for an ENTIRE YEAR disney+Hotstar subscription that Includes full Indian home season plus Premiere League and other entertainment. International team sport in all sports; is just an active crime scene. Nobody gets paid and people cry when players choose to do things that actually pay them OR you know act like professionals. Gotta feel for the Pakistan players man; they keep touring, get no share in the revenue, their board upends the domestic structure every other year and now after ages whiteys were gonna come and play WITH fans and this happens. But then England has been flipping the bird to all and sundry, personally think we in India got very lucky in 2008, when they did come back to finish the series. On a side note; England and Australia upping sticks and not touring SA was a real tragedy too.

'Too much cricket' ... Jarrod, you'll just have to forgive us normal people for laughing in derision. Fine, let 'em get a Real Job - I'm sure there's plenty of normal folk waiting in the wings who'd fill their spots. 99% of competitive cricketers have a shit day job, and then show up to the their games on the weekend. The trouble is, for people within the professional ecosystem, that they've entirely lost touch with their audience - they're becoming greedy, entitled, and pretentious. They cry 'burnout', and then take comfy sabbaticals for seasons at a time - so hard done by! The 'too much cricket' and 'boo-hoo COVID sucks' bit just doesn't really wash with the unwashed masses who ultimately pay their salaries. The 'I'm a bit worried about getting fucking suicide-bombs by deranged lunatics' bit should probably elicit a bit more sympathy from people like you. The truth is that in the old days people truly did play it for the love of country, and in many ways that's why we watch it too - by losing sight of that and becoming mercenary, the very core of cricket itself is being undermined. In search of the almighty paycheck they hazard the withering and erosion of that paycheck. Unfortunately there are things greater than the silly game of cricket. If pro cricket dies I don't even know if I'd care that much, TBH - I played the game and watched it before that, and I doubt that would ever change for me.
