After replaying the video a couple of times, my theory is that due to all the banking from side to side caused a lot of stress in the wing and therefore, caused it to rip apart. I may be wrong but that’s what I think happened.

Even during the first fly-by I was thinking I would not be feeling too comfortable being in that crowd with that massive twitching RC plane flying that close and that fast.

What a terrible loss. That was an absolutely stunning looking plane.

As a 40+ year RC plane/heli guy, I remember going to a public event at a local field and seeing a large scale turbine go straight in. Tens of thousands in hours and $$ reduced to a smoking hole. But what hit me was the crowd erupted into cheers. "COOL" and "That was awesome." I mean face it, its why we clicked on this video. Sucks to be him huh?

6 months prior to the flight. "Hey Fred, did you glue that wing spar?" "I think so."

The first break was the ego of the pilot. Huge shock for the cows who saw a UFO crash in their pasture. According to the farmer, the cows stopped producing milk from the intense shock.

Well, typically the wing doesn't fall off like that! There are strict standards regarding the materials which can be used to construct these things. No cardboard, or cardboard-derivates, for example.

Compared to others I've seen, that looked fairly unstable for most of the flight.

NTSB investigators were initially very excited when they thought they'd discovered the blackbox recorder, but unfortunately it later turned out to be just a piece of lego.

I had the chance to see this plane when it was in Perth Australia many years ago and it certainly put a smile on my 11 year old face sad to see it crash 😢

The great thing about this hobby is that every thing will fit in plastic bag at the end of the day

While the cause of the crash is unknown, this is properly what happened: during a previous landing some parts of the right wing were damaged, which then caused those parts of the right wing to fly off mid flight causing an explosion which severely damaged the wing, which eventually ripped off which caused the plane to go into a violent spin which resulted in a crash, all 403 passengers and 13 crew members were killed, in one of the worst 747 accidents.

I'm sure it sucks big time for the builder/operator, but there's something satisfyingly realistic looking the way these RC aircraft come apart. Y'all gotta start putting telemetry FDRs (black boxes) onboard. Accelerometer, air speed, and altitude graph would look neat to see for the final 5-10 seconds of flight!

The Steaks were just too high

It was caused by a wingstrike from a previous flight. it made cracks around the damaged wing and the maintenance engineers never detected it. the cracks got bigger and bigger until it damaged a flap which caused half of the wing to break apart. Then it plummeted down to a field of cattles. The investigators theorised that it may be caused from a fatal birdstrike or a bomb.

Just after the flyby, at 2:23, you can see the right wing bent upwards slightly just near the inboard engine. The damage had already occurred by this point.

While it was flying against the clouds, it looked like a full-size 747 going Mach2+.

Under constructed, overpowered, and inexperienced to fly this behemoth... not only put the cows in danger but potentially puts the spectators at risk too.

When I was younger I crashed a plane maybe half this size (my friends brothers plane) into a Chevrolet dealership...but the ass whipping we took was better suited for crashing a real plane🤣🤣

This actually points to inadequate engineering. Instead of calculating the structural strength needed as you would in full-scale aircraft design, the model is just "well made and strong enough" based upon the modeller's experience. Try holding a pizza box out the window of a car at 50mph.
