@bruceberry. Right? It reminds me of what a museum guide once said about the aboriginal dotted paintings: some were doing their typical art about the dreamtime but with acrylic paint on modern canvas and became very popular and earned good money with art. But 'art professionals' still put their art in the 'folkloristic' category. It had completely developped into another art branche and was both modern and using things that were called 'folklore' or tribal or indiginious or what have you: meaning -Not white- . But then some master thesis was written about the correct terminology and now that modern aboriginal art was placed in some conceptual modern category not in the historic folklore category. Im like I dont care what its called its just the idea that cultures have new versions of their own legacies. And its not folklore but vivid alive and shape shifting and telling stories of this generation. / I also like European folklore used in a modern shape like Nightwish uses celtic sounds ('into the wild') or Within Temptation using gregorian background choirs.

@@timperson2032 You're welcome Tim. The Mongolian language has nothing similar to the Chinese language. Our alphabets have been changed throughout of history but our language is part of Altai language group. Our traditional alphabet (used from the 13th century to the 20th century) comes from the Uighur alphabet which they borrowed from the Sogdians. Our current alphabet is Cyrillic since 1948. In the 1920s, 30s and until 1948 Mongolia used Latin as our alphabet.

Lyrics in English: Water your red horse with piebald mane without the gag-bit Please, remember the kindness of your old and grey father Ride on the slope of the blue fold mountains Please, remember the compassion of your old and caring mother Shireg shireg Shireg shireg Take care of your loyal steed when you travel in foreign lands Make friends with good people who you ride in the horde Feed your bow and arrow with the wind Abide by your moon sword as you sleep Have the intuition to see the evil Have the strength to endure barriers Shireg shireg Shireg shireg We kiss your right cheek as we say farewell We'll kiss the left one when you return Farewell, your elderly father and mother will be waiting for you at home Shireg shireg Shireg Shireg On the acoustical version of this song, commenter Gerelt-Od Gotsbayar says this about the word: "Shireg (ᠰᠢᠷᠢᠭᠢ) is kind of "magical" word used during ritual we Mongolians do when baby child get afraid of something. When babies afraid of something and can't tell their parents, only fathers allowed do this "ritual", for find culprit and "kill" it, for make sure it's no longer threat for them. There are some variations, sometimes, they throw salt into fire. But mostly they use candle (In ancient times, when there was no candle, they used copper). Fathers melt candle into candle oil (or it called wax?) on furnace. While mother or someone holding baby, father put oil into spoon or something, and circle it clockwise, 3 times over their baby, tells "shireg shireg", along with other blessing words like in this song. Then they pour candle oil into cup of water, and I don't know how it works, but figure/shape of culprit (things which made baby afraid) appears exactly on water made by oil itself. Human beings, animals, stuffed toys, lego, furnitures, shadow, or even cloud, it can be any thing. Fathers show it to babies and tell them, he throwing it away, do not afraid any more. Then he breaks shape in front of babies eye, then throws it away. Wonderfully it works and baby sleep well." Sorry this is long but it's very interesting to me. I thought others might find it interesting too.

I have no idea what it is that they're saying... But about 15 seconds in to that first guy singing I had tears pouring out of both of my eyes. You don't have to understand the language to be able to feel it. This is probably the most beautiful thing I have ever heard in my life. Wow. 🙏

Have a listen to their beautiful song 'Mother Nature'. It's on Eric Rad's YT channel filmed on 9.16.21 at Stone Pony Ashbury Park NJ. My 5 year old granddaughter introduced me to The Hu a little while back and 'Mother Nature' is probably our very favourite number. Doesn't matter how many times a day she and I listen to it, we are both brought to tears each time. It is hauntingly beautiful and touches the very soul. Love to know what you think of it Tim....kiaora from Aotearoa NZ.

Such a simple and incredibly melody. Their instruments are so beautiful and you can almost see the culture come alive through the instruments and the way they play them. I have always been fascinated with throat singing. I'm partial to Tibetan throat singing but Mongolian throat singing is beyond incredible to hear.

@@patriot4786 Word and respect bruv. So glad that people just start realising that Nomadic culture is actually really cool thing u kno. Our population maybe a tiny compare with the likes of China and India and all other countries. But our heritage, and history, tradition and culture is richer and bigger. The Warriors from steppes of Mongolia changed the course of the history forever. And now we are doing it to the modern music industry. The Hu is changing it just like our ancestors done it in long time. Appreciate that you r so grateful for our culture. Where u from BTW?

You know what this is why I thankful about social media! TV channels, news papers used to show us what they want not what we really want or the truth. Now we can find the reality of the world, true music, real talented people, awesome skills people have, beautiful creations everything... Each country has their own so many pretty amazing things that others never knew about but people have to know! Look at this. As a Sri Lankan I have heard throat singing before "HU Band" but how many others haven't? When they heard it for the first time, most of them gonna love it and amaze how they do it!
