It's like that Simpsons episode where they move the entire town! It's nice to see you're as easily sidetracked as the rest of us! ;-)

This layout is going to be so awesome when it's finished... you know where you're adding the sidewalk instead of having it go back up ground level it would be cool to make it a little fishing pier or an area for people to fish Off the Wall with a little makeshift bait shop!

What the heck Jason....LOL. I have a couple ideas for you, #1 - add a safety railing to the low sidewalk, preferably a steel pipe railing to add a different material, #2 - Between that wall and the buildings, pave the whole thing and have the track do a bit of street running, #3 - if you have clearance issues with the road at the bridge, dip the road down at that point like you often seen done, that would add some visual interest. Looking forward to the next one.

Jason, I love how you start a project to cover the closet opening with styrofoam, but along the way you end up finishing the retaining walls along the harbor. I thought I was the only one who got so distracted in the middle of a project! Great work, as always.

That was just a great video of the layout and build of the foundation structures for all the buildings! The background looks great with the blue sky. Just incredible all the details you added to the cement and side walls! You would just get lost looking at the whole build detail of the town.

More quality work, Jason! =D And at the end, where you talk about the bridge and wall, I can easily imagine someone being enchanted by the sight! Heck, the whole scene makes me imagine a town I'd love to live in. ♥ Now, I'm debating if I want to go to the root beer stand, or the pizza parlour!

As I said, during the video, "Oh no! He's almost done!" Great video, as usual! ( FYI... I wouldn't change those bridges. Maybe put a "mock" pier hanging between them. That would be the normal thing. A span that long wouldn't be built from wood.)

Fantastic job on getting a lot of the foam landscape done. I love useing the foam board now days to build up the landscape. When I first started in the hobby in the early 70's, we used news paper, cardboard strips, and paper towels strips soaked in plaster Paris. The foam makes it alot easier and alot less weight. It is always good to see your work on the layout. You do an amazing job on all your structures making them look so realistic which I love watching your process on how anyone can achieve these results but they also need a place on the layout.You take the time to show us and you thought process to bring landscape detail to the same detail that you put in to your structures. Your layout looks so amazing and it is always good to see your progress on it. Keep shareing with use how you build your layout. It is always good to go back and forth from building structures to landscaping to help break it up so you don't get burned out doing one thing. Great job on the concrete retaining walls. Going to try your techniques in the future. I should also note that, where railroad bridges are concerned, you have plenty of clearance. There is one not too far from us that has a whopping seven feet to the road surface.

I don't know how you do it but I am pretty sure you are really enjoying your self. Where do you get that enthusiasm? most of us could use a little of that ourselves. I have commented on you site before my name is Robby and I painted movie and TV sets for many years. we used to get really motivated when we would get our gigantic budgets, we had the advantage of almost unlimited funds and the help of the worlds best art directors and production managers and they were hired for their ability to envision realistic atmospheres. I saw you video the other day and you said you were an artist. Duh! no wonder your work is so good. I have not found anyone else on KZfaq that even comes near your quality environments. I thought I would mention when you are doing something like those runs on your wall, if you put a little drop of dish soap in that paint it will stay together better it's best to avoid big runs and I was glad to see you soften them by brushing up. Good move. You might find it interesting that we used to criticize each others work a lot because we knew it would be criticized by others including the actors who had to use it to feel in the moment. We put fake toilets in a set in Spokane Washington once and while no one was watching someone used it. Yep, number 2. Glamorous Hollywood.

It never fails, you start out with a plan on how you want to get done with your hobby time and things do not got as planed. Been there ,done that, and bought the tee shirt. I do believe modelers need to buy a foam table cutter. Love mine! love the corner with the broken corner @ 36:43 very cool detail gives me food for thought on mine. I wonder how you will fill the seams on the road you pieced together so looking forward to the next video. Paper templates to fit the area too cool....Great video!

Do you keep a list of the projects you have yet to work on, a layout to-do list, use something like Microsoft Project ( 😀 ), or maybe list them on a white board, or do you just work on whatever project inspires you at that moment? - Paul

Wow, some transformation there Jason, and all the better for being "not with the plan". It makes one heck of a difference to the layout having filled in the closet doorway, and that led to the harbour wall and even the road in the middle. Lovely work, it is so good to see your enthusiasm taking a turn away from kit building and into planet building. Any room for a fjord? If I lived on your side of the ocean I'd be over in a shot to help with the workshop tidy-up, just as long as you came back over to help me with mine! Ahem.

Yet again more amazing details. Was thinking that the wall on the footpath should be stone to show what was there before...change of shot and there it was lol. The road leading to the ferry, as well as bridges for road traffic and the trains what about pipe bridges for mains water and gas? Thinking that there wouldn't be many underground electric cables then to supply homes/businesses.

Wow, this job is great. I'd like to share with you my experience with salt... I've found that using it as an ink mask can be a bad idea as it reacts with moisture and starts to "cry"... hahahahaha... a kit of one 1943 BMW motorcycle with sidecar that I used salt to give the texture of rust swollen paint, started to drip water. Detail the weather was rainy. A big hug Jason, stay safe

I don't know what the bridge for the cars looks like but on that little road that comes out to the pier you could use those two archways that you were talking about using for to drain pipes and make it like a tunnel under the bridge just to give some visual interest of course you would have to cut out the archway to make it pass through..... sorry your video is just get the creativity and Imagination going !

No need to apologize, ever. Couple of questions: When you remove your buildings and then place them back. Do you ever forget or decide to place them in a different order? And, has your wife ever come in the room and made suggestions?

Foam wizardry! Not sure how some of the thin foam pieces would translate into N scale. Perhaps styrene would work better. But I really like how you use foam boxes and slabs to create elevation changes.

It is amazing how fast basic scenery forms go together using the foam, not super cheap,but WOW!. Nice work Jason, loving it all!, Can you post/provide a link to that Foam cutter you are using? Looks like an awesome investment
