Easy Green Screen Keying in After Effects CC

In this brief tutorial, I'll show you how to use a special combo preset in After Effects CC for pulling a clean key from green screen footage. Along the way, you'll learn how to smooth harsh edges, preserve hair and fine details, as well as the removal/suppression of any spill/contamination that exists from green/blue reflected on your subject.

I just came on here to say that you, sir, are an Adobe After Effects CC GOD! Thank you SO much for introduction game to the 'Advanced Spill Suppressor' button. I do interviews on my channel with roleplaying game creators and players, and just last night did an interview (which I am currently editing in AE) only to discover I had a TON of green screen spill. I did a quick search on KZfaq, found your video, and in less than ten minutes and with pretty much ZERO problems, was able to eliminate it! This video is about five years old, but I feel like the internet was invented for just this sort of archived knowledge! I'm SO happy, THANK YOU SO MUCH!

Jason, where have you been all my life? Thank you! I am dealing with some really bad unlit green screen material, have been using Keylight for years and really didn't understand Key Cleaner, and never seemed to have much luck with Advanced Spill Suppressor. When I saw you bring all three in at once, I was thinking, how did he link all those. Anyway, I was going step by step with you on my own footage, and with very little effort, pulled a very good key. Your knowledge and the way you teach is so welcoming. Thank you again for showing this old dog some new tricks!
