Tutorial is just like my hair. Same razor, been cutting my own hair many yrs. Thus is the one soon . Beautiful. then highlights . I went from a 0 blade cut in back. Grew out 6" .

You can go to either, but it's important to ask if they can do this type of haircut. Some barbers are only good with clippers.

how long should each side be?

If your hair isn't super thick, I like for the sides to touch the bottom of the ear and then angle up to the shorter bang length. If your hair IS super think, you could undercut the sides and let the top fall over to give the same look without the thickness of the sides making the haircut look super round and bubbly.
