In 1992 I was studying in Florida and we used to play cricket late in the night on weekends. This was tape ball and on basketball courts. There was this guy(waseem ahmed) who bowled left arm fast. First time, I could not see the ball :) and I have played district cricket in India. After 2 years of playing together his appreciation of my batting still is something I cherish. 2. During the 96 World Cup there was no telecast in US. So a group of us (India + Pakistan) spent a lot of money to install dish. During the India Pakistan match in Bangalore there was about 60-70 people in a 2 bedroom apartment screaming for their country’s win. When Javed got out there was so much screaming that the cops came. But we all left as friends and appreciated the game. In the end we were all the same.

The India-Pakistan match in Bangalore was watched about 50-60 people in small 2 bedroom (one for India and other for Pakistan). When Javed got out(until which we thought Pakistan will win) , everyone screamed and the cops came to arrest us (because it was about very early in the morning.). Someone complained we were fighting - ha ha! Bahut josh thee ham sab me! In the end, we all left as friends who enjoyed a great game together and we played a lot of cricket together as well which is memorable for me.

Yes same in India. I still remember Pak cricket team coming to India in 79-80... I was also very impressed by their lively and joyful spirit... Certainly destroyed the "every Pakistani terrorist" myth prevailing in India... But only if they were less radical and gawar.
