Have you read Trainspotting? Im not sure whether it would translate very well in America. I think its one of those rare ones were film is some what as good as the book.

The shark's death in the novel was boring. Quint harpoons the shark in the belly and it is the mortal wound. Quint drowns when the rope tangled around his leg and he is dragged under. Brody is helpless. The shark then dies from the wound and Brody the sole survivor swims to shore. Steven Spielberg hated the ending and he wanted the shark to explode from a bullet hitting the scuba tank. The explosion ending had the audience cheering in the theatre!

I read the book, and seen the movie over 100 time's. The movie is so much better than the book. Especially the ending. Not to mention there is so much unrelated crap in the book from the Mafia, to adultery it gets to be a boring read real quick. The movie cut all that crap out and stuck to the main plot about the shark, and the people of Amity it is 100% better than the book.
